I am currently preparing for my first post-lockdown on-site conferences (besides one in my hometown).
The costs, the effort (family organisation, hotel search, logistics...), the travelling: I find it hard to justify. The more events that are held virtually, the better, cheaper, more CO2-efficient and, above all, more inclusive.

Y'all, I wonder if I tell my southern relatives, angry at wokeness, that "y'all" is woke, if this will be like that Easter with my very Catholic family that I reminded them that Jesus was a Jew and the room literally erupted in chaos and yelling while I snuck out laughing the whole way.
I extended the deadline, so that everybody can enjoy their vacation.
