Published PipeTap with libcamera fork
Now it's time to beta test!
PipeTap is an application that control @libcamera driven camera through @pipewire .

I just made some changes to @libcamera to export focus/brightness controls and created a PoC app to work with it via @pipewire (wireplumber gobject api) in @vala_lang because why not? @postmarketOS
My talk "Last Mile from Mobile Linux to the User" was accepted for #Installfest!
It will take place on Sunday, 16.03, at 14:30 in Track II.
I’ll be driving Brno → Prague in the morning and back in the evening. If you’d like to join, I still have plenty of space in my car.
You can also find me at the Ubuntu Touch stand—come say hi!

I sent my OnePlus 6 focus driver upstream

And some random cat came to pay his respects, I guess. Photo taken on a OnePlus 6 running @postmarketOS

Thanks for pinging me @gedankenstuecke. @mivox @mdione I'd be really happy to share my experiences with #SailfishOS which I use exclusively as my daily phone (inc. banking, Signal, Mastodon, Web).
It sounds like you're already hooked in, but here's a page with many mobile distributions in case it's a helpful launch point:
(this site is primarily for the #LinuxOnMobile stand we run at #FOSDEM each year).
There is a caveat, though:
"…it's based on #Debian testing, but it doesn't use the Debian #kernel. It runs on top of the Krypton build of kernel 4.19, and uses #Halium to call Android drivers…"
I.e. it is not a "first class #Linux" phone like #Pinephone (which I run with kernel 6.12) or #Librem5. Still better than Android, I guess
Question to my fellow FOSS devs: do you have a recommendation for ordering hex stickers? (preferably in the EU)
One year later… Inception!
The #Fairphone5’s front camera is working well (with an impressively smooth refresh rate) on #postmarketOS.
Shot from another #Fairphone 5 running #CalyxOS, that I actually bought a couple of hours after the original post
Thank you so much for what you do, @postmarketOS!

If you're at #FOSDEM and interested in running #Linux on your phone or watch (you should be!) then swing by the #LinuxOnMobile stand on Saturday or Sunday in building K, stand K1-C-6! We'll have #AsteroidOS, #Mobian, #SailfishOS, the @jolla Mind2 and more to test out and try. @linmob will be there with stickers and insight. Plus @postmarketOS and @calyxos are right next door!
There's a bunch of exciting #SailfishOS stuff happening at #FOSDEM this year:
1. The #LinuxOnMobile stand will have phones to try. I'll be there, please come say "Hi"!
2. A Sailfish social event Saturday night (they're always amazing).
3. A Sailfish Community BoF on Sunday with the @jolla team.
Plus a bunch of talks in the devrooms. Looking forward to an amazing event!

Yay, I'll give a Pebble Time Steel to someone at #FOSDEM, that person will then transport it to someone else that wants to implement support for a #LinuxOnMobile program.
(No details, I don't want to pressure that person.)
postmarketOS 24.12 released based on Alpine Linux 3.21 with GNOME Shell on Mobile 46, KDE Plasma Mobile 6.2.4, Phosh 0.43.1, Sxmo 1.17.0, doas instead of sudo
Looks like the latest @phosh -rc brings in some nice eye candy improvements: visible background in the app overview, background transparency on the quick settings/notifications page, it almost feels like a christmas present! ️

Finally some progress is going on for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e (SM-T720) running close to mainline kernel!
Thanks to Goldencrew3000 for writing a kernel touch driver for the stm fts1ba90a touch panel.
https://github.com/Goldenkrew3000/T720-PostmarketOS/tree/main/FTS1BA90A
Of cours this is still all very experimental but I am very excited to see this device run postmarketOS!
