Karl Baron<p>And here is the final leaderboard for the <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a> <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/GlobalTalk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GlobalTalk</span></a> Scavenger hunt! Thanks to everyone who participated!</p><p>The final clue submission Stack will be removed in the coming days.</p>
Karl Baron<p>Here are all of the printouts I received on <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/GlobalTalk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GlobalTalk</span></a> for <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a>! Thank you everyone!</p>
MARCHintosh<p>Whomever spent the month of <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a> trying to print PDF files to ImageWriter printers, you owe me about 7lbs of wasted tractor feed paper LOL</p>
pulusound<p>post <a href="https://anticapitalist.party/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a> bonus photo taken in 2004 on my Nokia 3660</p>
Karl Baron<p>Right now is an extremely stressful and uncertain period of my life, and <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a> has meant so much to keep me sane right now I don't have the words to express it. I truly mean it when I thank everyone who just has tried out something I built for <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/GlobalTalk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GlobalTalk</span></a>, left a message or printout, sent me mail(!!!) or even just liked one of my toots. This has all made March my absolute favorite time of the year that I look forward to more than Xmas. Lots of love to you all! :apple_inc: (5/5)</p>
Karl Baron<p>And my second <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a> is over! Another great year!</p><p>My stated goals were<br>1. Release TalkCrawler<br>2. Rewrite the networking in GlobalTalk Chat<br>3. Recap a IIvi/IIcx to replace my PB540 as router</p><p>An unstated goal was<br>4. To get a printer on <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/GlobalTalk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GlobalTalk</span></a></p><p>I completed 1 in time for March 1, and 2 by the middle of the month, 2 felt like redemption for something that felt like failure last year. Never had the time/desk space for 3, but maybe that'll be a good post-March project? <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/mb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mb</span></a>… (1/5)</p>

Dan Morgan :ksu:<p>HyperCard: I remember being disappointed when it didn’t get the attention it deserved when color became so important in Mac OS 7.x. I don’t know why I quit creating stacks but I did. <a href="https://vmst.io/tags/marchintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marchintosh</span></a><br><a href="https://vmst.io/tags/hypercard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hypercard</span></a></p><p>I’m playing with it a lot in fully booted OS 9 (not emulated or in Classic mode on OS X). OS 9 screams on both my low end G3 and G4s and so does HyperCard. And now in 2025, the 1-bit icons and dithered images are delightful. Yes, I’ve reach the “vinyl” stage of my computing life. </p><p>(Remember when computers sounded so much warmer when we we used punch cards?)</p>
Scott Small 🇨🇦<p>It's time for a <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a> retrospective!</p><p>Firstly: I've attached a photo of the remaining gifts to the drop box that have come in since the 15th!</p><p>Secondly: I've completed a final pass-over of the servers on <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/GlobalTalk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GlobalTalk</span></a>, left my calling card, and a print job for anyone who hasn't had one yet (as long as they have open file shares/printers). Results of that are attached as well.</p><p>Finally, the retrospective itself:</p><p>It's been an absolutely CRAZY month:<br> - On Day 1, my SE came home from the workshop with a fully-serviced floppy drive and '030 accelerator...<br> - ...which I didn't even end up playing with at all, because on Day 2 I bought a Power Mac 6500 for an absolute steal (and I STILL have to explore the other external HD that came with it)<br> - GlobalTalk completely dominated the month just like it did last year. I rebuilt my QEMU VM for running AIR a couple nights before the start of the month and it's been absolutely rock solid stable ever since.<br> - I made great progress on my project for the month, archiving my collection of Mac floppies from the early 90's. I'm only about 40% done, so this will continue into April as "bonus content" 😁<br> - No updates on <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Macstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Macstodon</span></a> - but I did verify that it works perfectly fine on Mastodon 4.3 if you manually authenticate by copying the URL to a modern machine, and copying the auth token back to your Mac.</p><p>Lastly I want to give thanks to everyone in the <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/VintageMac" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VintageMac</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/RetroComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroComputing</span></a> community for making this such a fun event every year! I love seeing all the greetings showing up in my drop box, and to my printer (which is now off for the year - but the PDF printer is available year round!) RetroSwim<p>I went on a printing spree for the last day of <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a> on <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/GlobalTalk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GlobalTalk</span></a></p><p>The progress bar when using MacPalette to print colour is fascinating, the little animation shows magenta for a while, then yellow, then cyan, then black at the end. Surely this isn't how the print goes? I was sure that colour dot matrix did all the colours for one band in 4 passes.</p><p>Anyway, if you got 2 jobs from me at any stage, I was having random crashes with my Graphite PowerMac G4, I think OS9.2 might be trashed.</p>
Ken McLeod<p>On the last day of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a>, here is a trivia quiz...
