I cracked it. I can more or less accurately calculate CAPE now within a useful margin of error. I will work on a 2D trapezoidal volume technique to calculate the "area" between the temperature and the reference moist adiabat (the red line and the purple line to the right) for resolution/accuracy

The #Geophysical Institute, sometime in the late 50s. This is where modern numerological #meteorology was invented, through the work of Vilhelm #Bjerknes and the research group around him and his son, Jack – also known as the Bergen School of Meteorology.
The building still houses world-class geophycisists, meteorologists and oceanographers contributing to IPCC WMO and other important climate research, and the central tower is still where the Meteorological Institute does their Bergen measurements.
Also, there is still a tram there! (These days, the light rail service Bybanen.)

Is it rare? it faded in and out of visibility but I could see it fairly consistently for about 45 minutes before the plane shifted to a different angle. im guessing it’s a result of refracted light off concentrated ice crystals in the clouds, but it’s cool as fuck and I feel so lucky I spotted it
