Hey hey, you thought there be no #nakeddiefriday today? Here we go!

Today's entry is an Infineon/Siemens SAB-C167CR-LM, a microcontroller based on the C166 core. The die is in pleasant-looking pastel colours. :-) The die has pin 1 in top left corner. I'll do a short thread.

Many thanks to @debauer for supplying the samples!

Continued thread

Once my camera adapter had arrived I went to collect some dirty water from a puddle. It's winter here, so it was frozen over, but even then, there was an absolute huge amount of life in there.
All following posts came from the same sample.

First off is a #Rotifer digging through some decomposing algae.

In my home lab, I only have a single desk that I share between office and electronics work. Because I was annoyed by the poor ergonomics of my stereo microscope when putting it away after working on it, I put a 3d printed handle on it. So far, it’s working great.

I’ll put the design files on printables this weekend in case anyone shares the same annoyance with this particular type of cheap microscope.

Happy #nakeddiefriday to those who celebrates.

Today's specimen is p/n XPM850DEZT50BU by Motorola. Appearing to be a comms processor, this one came from some Very Old ethernet gear.

While there are several sea-of-gates on the die, a couple highly-organized data pipelines can be seen. One of them must belong to the MPC8xx PowerPC core.

It's always fun when people come and show us what they do with their Boxes.

Yesterday Dr Alex Ball from the Natural History Museum visited and brought his collection of pollens, insects, sand and sugar 3D prints.

He uses them with him Museum in a Box to explain microscopy and scale. 5 pence coins for scale 🤣

Thought I'd do a quick re-#introduction since I just moved under this beautiful rock. Let's see what life is like in a smaller place.

I feel right at home, because I'm mostly tooting and boosting about #inaturalist #entomology #microscopy #wildlife #mothing
But that's very on-and-off, call it seasonal maybe.
I also have a long running project trying to CNC-automate my #microscope. Image processing (stacking/stitching) is in place.

I might also comment or toot about a bazillion other things, anything from computer security to tree felling.

I live in Norway, where we build routers at Celerway.

I wish I'd gotten some time learning from a microscopist because one of the things that drives me up the wall about trying to document what I've seen in dissections is that the camera seems to capture so much less than I'm seeing with my eyes.

There has to be a way to do better. There is a white/translucent insect or mite in this photo. #Microscopy #Botany
