"About 41% of parents reported they approached talking with their child about puberty only when prompted by the child, according to a new C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health released on Monday.

Only 36% of parents think it’s best to start puberty conversations before age 10, according to the poll, although puberty has been starting earlier."

> Stupidity isn’t just a lack of #intelligence —it’s the refusal to think critically, and it’s everywhere. In this video, we dive into The Stupidity Epidemic, exploring why people ignore #facts, how #SocialMedia fuels #misinformation, and why Dietrich Bonhoeffer believed #stupidity is more dangerous than evil. From blind groupthink to misplaced confidence, we break down how #ignorance spreads, why it thrives in positions of power, and what we can do about it.

What the heck are you talking about?

Voting federally in Canada is a very simple process, and doesn't take much time. You cast one vote for one office. Of course it's done by hand. It's trivial to count the votes afterwards. Even the biggest polling stations can count their votes in an hour or two.

Other than the line to get to where you get your ballot, it generally only takes a couple of minutes to vote. Yes, it'll be longer if you're not registered to vote, as they have to verify you, but otherwise it's quick.

It has been this way as long as I've been voting, which is more than 3 decades.

This post stinks of disinformation, trying to dissuade people from voting. Why? Who are you? Who are you working for?

Those of us who refused to adopt the “back to normal” Covid denial narrative are used to witnessing mental gymnastics by folks who need to believe the pandemic is over.

The new US Covid website is peak denial and conspiracy theory misinformation.

It reminds me of the AIDS denialism websites of the late 90s and early 2000s. They spread the lie that HIV doesn’t cause AIDS … that the real culprit was the medications to treat HIV.

You know who’s repeated that lie over the years? RFK Jr.

Lastly, how can they reconcile believing it’s a bioweapon yet also “mild” and “no big deal”? Surely if you believe a virus was weaponized to cause harm, you should take steps to avoid getting it repeatedly?

Mental gymnastics. When a person has no substance or facts to back up their position, logic goes out the window.

Smart Traveller gov au is STILL incorrectly giving false and dangerous information to people about traveling to the US, it's STILL saying "Entry requirements are strict." and "Exercise normal safety precautions" and not a single mention of random people being rounded up and forced into prison camps!

* DO NOT RELY UPON THE DANGEROUS MISINFORMATION ON THE SMARTRAVELLER GOV AU WEBSITE *

Question for non-native English speakers: would you say there is enough high-quality scientific information for those with non-science backgrounds in your language? (You can also add your language in the comments and elaborate if you’d like.)

In my native language (Romanian), I’ve noticed there is a vacuum that in recent years has been filled alarmingly fast by pseudoscientific, new agey hogwash. Trying to point people towards high-quality information is quite a daunting task, since there is very little available, so I’m curious how this looks in other languages.

Please consider boosting for reach. Thanks!
