🧵(1/3) For a time now, the idea of telling the story of my relationship to my grandfather has been bouncing around in my head. Only recently did I realize that knowing his house across the street, which was a constant for my whole life, was no longer a part of my life, and seeing his empty studio, its bare windows looking like the empty sockets of a ghost, is what has kept part of my mind in perpetual mourning mode.

Munija Haydar, Muzefer Mihemed, and Abdulkadir Ibrahim all worked in politics, the former the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party Qamishlo branch, and the latter two working within the Qamishlo city council.

Akrem Rakhoul was a volunteer with Qamishlo's civilian protection teams (HPC).

What if there were places people could go and hang out where everyone wore masks and the air quality was great? Like movie theatres, concerts, museums, and art galleries? Wouldn't it be nice to have safe, accessible places to go? I miss going places. I used to be able to do things at night other than just watch tv.

I'm still bitter about the so-called accessible and inclusive disabled artists show at Centre in the Square tomorrow night which refuses to ask the audience to wear masks.
