There’s no public list of blocked sites: It really doesn't seem like censorship is improving here. Miguel Afonso Caetano"Last week, the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the FCC, rejecting its authority to classify broadband as a Title II “telecommunications service.” In doing so, the court removed net neutrality protections for all Americans and took away the FCC’s ability to meaningfully regulate internet service providers.This ruling fundamentally gets wrong the reality of internet service we all live with every day. Nearly 80% of Americans view broadband access to be as important as water and electricity. It is no longer an extra, non-necessary “information service,” as it was seen 40 years ago, but it is a vital medium of communication in everyday life. Business, health services, education, entertainment, our social lives, and more have increasingly moved online. They had an outcome they wanted, and retconned the argument (pretty badly, apparently) to make it work. They don't care if anything about this decision is justifiable, reasonable, or gives a single consideration to consumer protection.Congress could write a law, but because of electoral and party circumstances, they won't. SCOTUS probably won't even hear the case if appealed, and if they did, they'd probably uphold the ruling.Some people view it as a power move to engage in blatant hypocrisy like this, almost as a taunt, to challenge anyone who thinks they made a bad decision with a "well, what are you going to do about it?" when we all know the answer is...ANGH. Ain't nothing gonna happen, not for a while, anyway.
