I’m excited to be here! Looking forward to making great connections, draw boundless inspiration, and share my realistic pet portrait drawings with everyone!

Here’s an artwork of a tabby cat, Cheeto. This marks my initial endeavor at using soft pastels to paint a cat. I faced some challenges in capturing the fur. I ended up revising it more than I initially planned, which unfortunately affected the paper's texture. But, I'm content with the final result I managed to achieve.

The Five Continents.

So, this is not some sort of AI generated photo, but it is a real existing building.

If you are ever in the city of Antwerp, be sure not to miss ‘The Five Continents’ an Art-Deco building colloquially known as ‘the boat house’ or ‘the little boat’ for it’s facade which has a balcony in the form of a ship.

Built in 1901 to the plans of architect Frans Smet-Verhas and commissioned by the boat builder Petrus Roeis, it was sold 2 years ago for funny money (a 2 and 6 zero’s) to a lawyer firm.

We Are the Weavers An 8-week journey exploring some of the oldest practical magic on earth - spinning, weaving, singing, and storytelling 12th March to 30th April, 2025 Wednesdays at 10:30 am PDT / 5:30 GMT (you may need to adjust for daylight savings time) "...I’ve come to believe that spinning, weaving and cloth-making have always had the potential to be acts of powerful storytelling, resistance, and autonomy for women in Europe (and of course all over the world). That even when women have been forbidden to learn to read or write, or to speak or sing or tell stories in public, they have passed on narratives of great power, beauty, and cultural importance to each other at the loom, and while spinning. They have channeled their passions and powers and visions into their looms, into their threads, into the patterns embroidered and woven into hems, dowry rugs, shirts, skirts, altar cloths. I believe that along the threads of warp and weft, ancient female wisdom has been preserved for millennia. By the rhythm of shuttle threading the weft thread back and forth, and loom weights clattering, by the rhythm of the thread spinning on the drop spindle, women have kept telling their stories down through the centuries. I imagine these sounds like the drum-beat, like the heart-beat, like the dancing beat that kept the memories alive down along the lines of blood and time even in times when all hope seemed lost…."

"Enough Is Enough" ... We've been blessed with multiple #EasternBluebird broods each summer for the past several years, and as such, we enjoy seeing the little families revisit our feeders all year. Their favorites are dried mealworms and shelled black oil sunflower seeds. But one thing they definitely don't seem to like are cold, snowy days

"Enough Is Enough" ... We've been blessed with multiple Eastern Bluebird broods each summer for the past several years, and as such, we enjoy seeing the little families revisit our feeders all year. Their favorites are dried mealworms and shelled black oil sunflower seeds. But one thing they definitely don't seem to like are cold, snowy days. I ordered some bling to help the design of the Sarasvati figurine I'm going to make, but it won't be here till about the middle or end of March.

In the meantime, I'm working on a quilt kit that my friend Linda & I got at a class last summer, lol.

I have a lot sewn & assembled. It lacks the edging. But I wanted to embellish it. Kits aren't my idea of art. An artisan makes it special, lol. So I have some ideas for that. (See alt text)

The plan at this moment is to cut up the fabric panel with the planets and suns on it. I'm going to cut a sun out of the yellow and gold flower fabric, top left, and make "rays" for it out of the sun-and-ray printed parts of the fabric with planets and suns on it. Opposite that, top right, will be a moon cut out of the purple with gold edged flowers, and some stars out of the leftover dark purple that came with the kit. Bottom left I'm going to do a very basic tree and branches silhouette from the purple with gold fabric, and cut out several of the planets to use as leaves / flowers on the tree - the idea being this is the Tree of Life growing the Universe / Multiverse. In the bottom right will be a large circle of the green-ish fabric, representing planet earth. I have some fabric with pastel buildings on it that I might use for the edges. I will also cut out some circles of this "earth" fabric and put them on the Tree of Life in the previous panel with the other planets, to represent inhabitable worlds.

"My Morning Coffee" ... my latest ... As the years roll by, I am finding that more and more of the things in life I loved and took for granted when I was young are fading away or becoming forbidden entirely. It's the way of things, if you're lucky enough to get some years on you. One of the things I've held onto with both hands is my morning coffee. 😁

As the years roll by, I am finding that more and more of the things in life I loved and took for granted when I was young are fading away or becoming forbidden entirely. It's the way of things, if you're lucky enough to get some years on you. But that doesn't make giving up chocolate cake or skiing or a sip of port wine or paragliding (well ... paragliding ... maybe not paragliding?) easy.
