Vincent Bernat Turns Three YubiKeys and a Cheap Single-Board Computer Into a Secure Offline PKI
hackster.io/news/vincent-berna

---
Developer Vincent Bernat demonstrates how to turn three Yubico YubiKey USB two-factor authentication dongles into an offline public key infrastructure (PKI) using a low-cost single-board computer as an air-gapped host.

Today I went on a ~23km #hike up and down the North East #coast between #Tynemouth and #Blyth, and then back to #WhitleyBay. I can't be more accurate about how far I went because I tried an experiment: leaving my #phone at home.

I liked it, and think I'll do more #disconnected trips, but I did get a bit bored around 15km in - so I'll need to find a #music / #podcast player to take on the next long walk.

Any #hardware suggestions would be most welcome! #musicplayer #audio #lowtech #offline

If you are a Unix nerd and wish you spend less time using your mouse while watching flashy colors, I recommend that you give Offpunk a try:

I’m trying to make it easier to get started with offpunk. Feedbacks and discussions are welcome on the mailing-list :

or on the fediverse, using the #offpunk hashtag. Or on your blog. That would be awesome to read blog posts about people using offpunk

“When we look at the history of mass atrocities against particular groups, we always see a period where the #information landscape is shaped away from recognizing the #humanity of the targeted group. By letting #hate speech flourish #online, you enable the pre-conditions for group #violence #offline,” [Rebecca Hamilton, professor law at #American University] added.

404 Media · Meta Is Laying the Narrative Groundwork for Trump’s Mass DeportationsMultiple experts drew comparisons between Meta's recent changes around immigration and what happened in Myanmar in 2017, where Facebook contributed to a genocide by allowing the spread of hate.

#Meshtastic is absolutely thriving in the lower North Island, here in Aotearoa New Zealand. Tracking its bloom worldwide, I believe this to be the most successful example of (in the sense of broadly adopted) Internet-independent and community-owned communications infrastructure we have to date.

Here's a map with just a proportion of the nodes, countless others are set to hidden:
