It's late, and I need to get to bed, but I drew a quick sketch of my girl Aster, and it made me so happy, so I have to share. 
I miss her and Sable so much. I should try to draw them more. ^^
The mesmerizing Helen Folasade Adu, lead singer of the band Sade.
Inspired from a photograph by Chris Roberts in 1990.
My idea was notably to highlight the strength of contrasts.
I just used
- a 4H graphite pencil,
- a twenty-five years old mechanical pencil whose lead (I suppose that) is a HB one and that I last used when I was a child,
- a stick of compressed charcoal.

Next part in the art log of N Toyohito is a tryout to figure out how the human face actually works... Got a pictures from I don't even remember where, printed it and I tried to get it broken down in shapes and lines and proportions. Kept some notes with horrible handwritting too ^^
Next steps:
*Make a more drawing-oriented study of face on my sketchbook
*Make this dude's portrait on my sketchbook and see how close I'll get.
Four #pencil #portraits of my fellow artists at our weekly draw club. Our model had skipped, so we had to act as one ourselves.
These are the 15 minute poses. It's an extra challenge to #draw people you know. One wants to get the likeness and character right. That's easier to let go with strangers.
