I work as a #sysadmin and whilst this may not sound exciting, it's kinda necessary, as one's the #janitor, #cleaner, garbage collector, #maid and #librarian together.

So yeah, #documentation, #backup & #restore ain't exciting but they need to fucking work, so in the worst case one can just follow the checklist of instructions.

  • It's like firefighting: You learn, train and stay prepared so that there ain't casualties at all...

5 years ago, I realised that my #academic travels were emitting way too much #greenhouse #gas #GHG (up to 20 t #CO2 / yr) and hence that my #professional activity was not #sustainable. I thus decided to completely ban air #travel (#plane) and travel mainly by #train within #Europe.

5 years later (i.e. now), my professional travels' #carbonfootprint dropped by **a factor 50**, without impacting my #publication records (compared to 2017 - 2019).

Many had ties to the #FederalistSociety, a *#conservative* #legal group. #Biden’s appointees have been 63% #female & 61% #nonwhite. He has prioritized nominees who served as #PublicDefenders & #CivilRights lawyers, & his picks have tended to be more #liberal than those of past Democratic presidents.
