13 April 1936 | Dutch Jewish girl Saartje Schnitzler was born in #Rotterdam.
She arrived at #Auschwitz on 22 August 1942 deported from #Westerbork with her mother Betje & siblings: Alida, Isidor, Joseph, Leonardus, Louis.
After the selection they were murdered in a gas chamber.

Ze voeren actie tegen de desastreuze bezuinigingen van het kabinet op het hoger onderwijs, die meer dan een miljard euro bedragen. De staking in Rotterdam is de achtste staking van de estafette. In totaal staakten er door het hele land al zo’n 25.000 studenten, docenten en medewerkers tegen de bezuinigingen.

Amazing how beautiful and efficient it is living in a functioning society: infrastructure built for people, to make daily lives easier.
Goes for big — Port of Rotterdam's investments to go zero-CO₂ within 25 years — and small: train travel made so easy, it's show up, tap, go.

for any community network enthusiasts in #rotterdam (e.g. if you find nyc mesh, guifi, freifunk, etc. interesting) 
i've wired up a tiny prototype of a community network at the garage space and this will be open from the 21rst feb to check out https://www.garagerotterdam.nl/tentoonstellingen/underdeveloped-2/
it's the simplest possible setup to understand the basics of how you can build a community network.
it's got all the moving parts of an initial setup: ubiquiti hardware for beaming the connection (point-to-point setup), clients with network configuration, different types of ethernet cables for different purposes (PoE, non-PoE), cable ties, metal pipe and scotch tape 
"sharing internet" is officially heavily discouraged by internet providers, so it's also nice to discuss the legal position of community networks too.
