I wanna sing My Song ♫
Take me home where I come from
I wanna sing my song
For you, for everyone ♪
I'm singing with headphones on..
How does that make you feel?
The Book of Rumi 105 Stories and Fables that Illumine, Delight, and Inform, 2018
Philip Pullman, author of 'His Dark Materials' trilogy, has remarked that "after nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world." This new collection of Rumi stories fills that need.
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
There is a field. I'll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
The world is too full to talk about.” - Rumi
"Die,
and be quiet. Quietness is the surest sign
that you’ve died.
Your old life was a frantic running
from #silence.
The speechless full moon
comes out now.
“I used to want buyers for my words.
Now I wish someone would buy me away from words."
Rumi: Bridge to the Soul: Journeys Into the Music and Silence of the Heart, translated by Coleman Barks, 2007

“And don't think the garden loses its ectasy in winter.
It's quiet down there, but the roots are riotous."

"For if a #soul entombs its secret love Fulfilment comes more quickly from above.
The Prophet said, “Whoever hides his #dream
Attains it sooner through the Lord Supreme”:
When seeds are hidden deep beneath the ground
Their secret turns to verdure all around,
Silver and gold are hidden in the mine
To nurture them and purify their shine.’"

@mcmullin Rumi is tremendous — one of the great spirits that belong to us all.
Colemark Barks is one of the big popularizers of his poetry, but I hesitate to recommend his ‘versions’ of Rumi’s poetry as an introduction.
I’d start with Rumi’s conversations, which are accessible, poetic & spiritually profound.

Yahia Lababidi’s work is characterized by a contemplative tone in line with #Rumi, whom he often #quotes.
Lababidi is a #Muslim voice for #peace, celebrating the #wisdom in ancient traditions and pointing out the ridiculous in the rush & cynicism of contemporary life.

Came across a very encouraging tree during my walk this evening.
Thus, let us praise those who criticize us, so their friends will think, “It is our friends who are at odds with the Sufis, since the Sufis always speak well to our friends.”

@Magpieboy @bookstodon Thank you, Paul. What I like about that #Rumi #quote is the reminder that we are not alone, nor are we running the show.

This is why the saints have love for all people and think well of whomever they meet—not for the sake of others, but solely for themselves…
Saints struggle to hold everything in their mind and memory in an amiable and positive light, so that hateful images will not block their way.

"I want to sing like the birds sing, not worrying about who hears or what they think" - Rumi.
"I suffer wrongs that will not be said.
None will hear my excuse or cries.
Just as the candle weeps,
No one knows if the tears it sheds,
Come from its closeness to the fire
Or the longing of the bee’s wax for the honey’s sweetness, now parted."
