As I'm stil trying switching away from Spotify, I'm trying out since today Tidal.
When i choose in Google maps setting for "default media playback controls" I can only select Youtube music and Spotify. But there is no Tidal and no qobuz to select.
Any workaround for this?
I'm not driving many times with a car, but when I do, I like to have it.

I've got a network speaker (a Denon Home 150) that speaks "AirPlay Remote", "AirTunes Remote", "Tidal Connect", "Spotify Connect", "HEOS Audio", and "Qobuz Connect" according to Avahi.

How can I play music on this from Linux?

My music player (Strawberry) doesn't list it or any of those protocols, and I can't set it as an audio device (which is probably a good thing).

The NH1 tidal project from Normandie Hydroliennes will use four turbines to turn the Raz Blanchard tidal flow - Europe’s strongest tidal stream - into a source of renewable energy."

cancelled my #spotify subscription. Anyone got some less unethical alternative streaming services for me to turn to? I feel like music streaming is pretty inherently unethical but I do find it convenient.

Right now I'm torn between #deezer and #tidal. I don't care about lossless audio, nor discovery algorithms, just something I can use to listen to albums I don't own.

Now trying out - thanks for the recommendation, @Ruth_Mottram 😊

Did a playlist transfer via Tune My Music; paid for a single month & it worked beautifully, with what looks like very few out of some 7500 tracks missing 👍

Now if I could only remember something to search for that I couldn't find in , just to reinforce the switch... 😝

FediScience.orgRuth Mottram (@Ruth_Mottram@fediscience.org)I'm trying out #qobuz as an alternative to Spotify: high fidelity sound is good even through small Bluetooth speaker. Quite like this intro playlist too. Good bend of familiar and new. Listen to the playlist An Introduction to Qobuz https://open.qobuz.com/playlist/504746

@HeliaXyana anyways, not here to shame you for your bad consumer habbits. I got my own lol (incl Spotify).

But I have been thoroughly considering moving to #Tidal - for various reasons.

But the second they get too big is the second they abuse their position of influence. You can set your clock to it.

Tidal was also caught by the Norwegian PRO called Tono in artificially inflating the numbers for - among others - Beyonce.

@HeliaXyana how to put this: #music #streaming is inherently #unethical.

With how subscription fees and revenue share works, the only ones who are going to be making money are big publishers.

T-Pain for instance belabours how he doesn't care how much royalties he gets, in fact: the publisher can get 100% of it if they want.

Small to medium size artists get nothing almost. It's like a nice little Christmas bonus.

If anything, #Tidal, but even they have been found to jux the numbers.

After #spotify donated millions to Trump I can no longer stay on that platform. I want my subscription money to go to the artists, not to any politician.

I realized the change was a good thing for several reasons. The other streaming services available are so much better. They have superior sound quality, uncluttered UI. And maybe the best of all, they pay the artists better.

If you really love music, give #tidal , #qobuz or any other service a try. Just #quitspotify
