When I was identifying as #nonbinary, I was at a bar with a coworker while we were attending an in-person work conference.

He says to me, "If you're thinking of jumping the fence... Men are assholes."

Like, he was mansplaining /men/.

He didn't talk about it, much, but as an Electrical #Engineer, he had worked on military aircraft. And, now he's working on #Sustainability and #Water #Conservation in his community.

US private equity group KKR is named as Thames Water's preferred bidder (offering assurances that it will not break up TW or ramp up TW's debt to pay for the purchase), but one might wonder why a private equity group would be buying a troubled water company?

the words, 'asset stripping' come to mind; no new loan or break up, perhaps, but something has to generate a profit... hard to see how this is preferable to nationalisation for the customers, but OFWAT doesn't really care!

"Under the treaty, #Mexico sends #water from rivers in the Rio Grande basin to the US, which in turn sends Mexico water from the Colorado River, further to the west. But Mexico has fallen behind in its water payments due to drought conditions in the arid north of the country.

The treaty is very contentious south of the border, where Mexican farmers have been struggling with intense drought in recent years."

#Mexico's #WaterDebt

"The [1944] agreement obliges the United States to deliver 1.85 billion cubic meters of #water a year from the Colorado River.
In return Mexico must supply an average of 432 million cubic meters annually over a five-year cycle from the Rio Grande, which forms part of the border between the two countries.

Mexico owes the United States more than 1.55 billion cubic meters, according to the two countries' boundary and water commission."

Global #SoilMoisture in ‘permanent’ decline due to #ClimateChange

"The findings, published in Science, suggest the decline is primarily driven by an increasingly thirsty atmosphere as global temperatures rise, as well as shifts in rainfall patterns

The drying out of soil “increases the severity and frequency” of major droughts, with consequences for humans, ecosystems and agriculture."
