I went to the Artapestry 7 exhibition recently, and it was beautiful. So many fluffy, wooly, shiny textures! Here's my two favourites.
Unfortunately, certain pieces could only be viewed up close, because of the way they were displayed. The one called Birches was completely unrecognisable, because you couldn't get more than 2 meters away...

I was reading a post about the yarn in Ellie’s hat in The Last of Us (Someone said they verified Sweet Georgia, speculation was Malabrigo Rios). It made me think about clothing production in the post-apocalyptic age. I found this site and it looks interesting but before signing up I'd like to get some opinions about it.
I'm a beginning weaver, I'm interested in finding patterns and projects and ideas and maybe a bit of a community. Ravelry for weavers or something similar.

Long Thread Media - publisher of Piecework, Handwoven, Little Looms, Spin Off, and (soon!) Weft - is trying to save Craftsy or at least make some $ off it - as a subscriber to one of these magazines, I have an offer for a full year of membership for under $2. Copying that here: one thing I did not expect about Peru was the unbelievably rich culture of fiber arts. Weaving, spinning, knitting, dyeing, crochet, knitting -- it's EVERYWHERE. Women all over use woven cloth like this to carry things -- you just bundle up your stuff, tie the thing around your shoulders, and go. From groceries to small children, they carry everything.
These aren't just practical and functional, the patterns and colors are simply stunning!
When you consider tariffs for fiber arts... good luck if you want fleece or fiber prominent from a certain country.
The US... for complex reasons we aren't a wool using country. A LOT of the yarns in LYS and big box stores are made in another country. Turkey, UK, France, Italy, some in China, a LOT from India...
Panic buying yarn isn't the solution. Folks did that during the pandemic and still don't know what to do with the yarn.
It's delightful to see actual sunshine in the studio, but it also reminds me that I have to move the ryijy out of its path.

My latest woodworking project is a floor stand for our Ashford weaving loom. This project took about 8.2 bd-ft of 4/4 ash. It was mostly machine work on the band saw, table saw, jointer, planer, drill press, and sander. Finish was several coats of Watco Danish Oil ("Natural" color).
It's similar to the stand Ashford sells for their looms. It was fun refreshing my high school geometry and trigonometry to come up with the dimensions. Like the loom itself, the stand folds flat for transport or storage.
