So, this week’s shot meant I got to hold a paintbrush! And it’s back to the Giant Canvas of ??!? It just keeps getting weirder. 
Leopard tortoise (Stigmochelys pardalis) is a large and attractively marked tortoise found in the savannas of eastern and southern Africa. Unlike most tortoises, leopard tortoises can swim & float well thanks to their unique neck structure and the absence of a nuchal shield. They use their throats to detect odors, they also do not hibernate. They have an organ called a bursa sac where they store water during dry seasons, which helps them stay hydrated and also moistens the ground when they dig nests to lay eggs. It is a member of the Small 5 (along with the rhino beetle, the red-billed buffalo weaver, the elephant shrew and the antlion).
