Literally Windows on arm: here is Windows running on the Pixel Watch 3

Right off the bat, there is not that much use for a Pixel Watch with Windows on it. The project, as the maker says, is for "shits and giggles" and more like an April Fool's joke. However, it shows how capable modern smartwatches are, with the Pixel Watch 3 being powered by a processor with four AR

I spent decades perfecting my linux dotfiles and emacs config - but all that changed in just five minutes.

I peeked into my classmate's laptop to copy the homework but I was awestruck by how awesome windows 11 is.

Nixos has rollbacks and emacs but Windows has recall and copilot inside notepad that has done my homework.

I had trouble choosing a browser on Linux after firefox shit its bed. But windows gave me a free microsoft account and bing assured me that Edge is the best.

Life's so good now with microsoft watching my back 😄. Take that linux shills!

This summer I need to either transition a ~15 year old #Windows machine to #Linux or pay for a year of extended Windows 10 support. It currently runs the last version of iSpy to be released (a NVR software) as its primary duty and also has some music that gets played occasionally. While I remotely manage the machine, my parents use it locally to play music and to look at the video camera feeds.

It also uploads stills from the cameras every 2 mins to a remote server.

The big difference with Open Mandriva Linux is you do not need to use the terminal to enable non-free firmware, drivers, or media codecs.

You simply need to open the app called, "Software Repository Selector" and check the boxes for the repositories you wish to enable. Once done, you can open either the store app or dnf dragon, for example, and install whatever you need.

It is point and click, easy.

From a simple user point of view, if you have used Fedora, you will be familiar with Open Mandriva Linux.

Both use RPM packages and Dnf package manager. You can even download and install 3rd party RPM packages, for example, I installed iVpn directly from their website.

Their "Cooker" build is comparable to Fedora's "rawhide". Their "Rome" build is comparable "Fedora Release". Lastly, "Rock" is comparable to centOS.

There's no way I'm ever going to install a proprietary OS on my computers again. Even though gaming is one of my main hobbies, with Wine and Proton being in the state they are, I have absolutely no major problems. And if, for some reason, they will go away in the future, I'll find other ways. I've been using Linux as my main OS since 2005. And yes, it also has been my gaming OS for that long.

I'm already not buying any games from companies that belong to Microsoft anymore. It did hurt me a bit when MS bought Bethesda/Zenimax, but I've found alternatives that are more than feasible. In the end, I don't have the time to play all the games I would like to anyway.

I know of only 1 Windows clone. Meaning, an operating system, that is not Microsoft Windows, with the purpose of running Windows apps and services.

This is more than a theme (style), but an actual OS that can even install Windows drivers. They've been in development for years, and it has more in common with Windows 2000 or Server 2003. It's good with older games in my opinion, so if you have any classic, this works OK.

Microsoft makes it even harder to use a local account on Windows 11

Do you want to install Windows 11 without internet access or without an online Microsoft Account? It seems Microsoft really doesn't want you to, as it has removed a very common and popular way of bypassing this requirement. In the release notes for the latest builds from the Dev and Beta channels, the
