My thought is that I'm a lot more productive with a set number of tasks I want to get done in the day, not a set number of hours to sit at my desk. But the latter wins with managers because it's traditional.

And I like working from the office. It works for me, but I'm not here for bullshit reasons.

So, global pandemic ensues and businesses have their workers go remote and spend 18 months telling them how wonderful they are and how great remote work is and how they are doing a great job in the midst of such turmoil and there is no reason to ever go back to the office because productivity is through the roof and the company is doing great. Then, suddenly...nope, we were just kidding, you didn't do anything working remotely and need to be back in the office 3 days a week. And now, we were totally kidding when we we said flexibility was good for us all and what a great job everyone was doing. You are not responsible adults who can manage your time and responsibilities. You are small children who must be managed by time clocks and badge swipes and policies. Get back in the office and pump out your work under the watchful eye of the company or get out. Unfortunately, the companies let employees get a taste of what life could be like....and many are not eager to go back and they won't soon forget. This article points out the obvious: forcing workers back into the office is not about productivity — it noticeably makes productivity worse and ruins morale. I think it's about workplace dynamics: egotistical managers with outdated ideas who want to feel important and have no regard for the individual needs of other people or their health as we head into five years of this pandemic.

Working from home with a #puppy is quite the adventure. We had a walk this morning, lots of potty breaks (she's doing very well at asking to go outside). I made her a frozen Kong, gave her one of her bones with pop in treats, and a dental chew. 2 hours later she's finally starting to crash.
