The odds that asteroid 2024 YR4 would hit Earth in 2032 rose and then plummeted in recent days. The latter is good news, considering the asteroid is thought to have the potential to release 500 times more energy than the atomic bomb that destroyed Hiroshima. With a slew of new observations overnight, the Impact Probability (IP) for Asteroid 2024 YR4 striking Earth on Dec 22, 2032 has now decreased to 0.28%, down from 3.1% two days ago, according to NASA CNEOS.
Torino Scale value now = 1 ⬇️
IP for moon now = 1% ⬆️

All of this is expected as the uncertainty corridor narrows due to more accurate orbit calculations and earth is now at the edge of the corridor. See post #6 and #10 for the explanations.
