Hi all! I’m looking for interesting accounts that talk sometimes about #LiteraryCriticism, or maybe other #literature and #CriticalTheory-based accounts. I’ve tried searching for authors I like, but haven’t had a huge amount of luck beyond finding posts. I’m especially looking for #SciFi criticism, but am curious about a lot of other genres too. Some other things I like are #DFW, #MarkFisher, #PKD, #BeckyChambers, #Solarpunk, #Cyberpunk, #Existentialism, #ArabLit, #Metamodernism. TY!
I just picked up the 4th book in the Wayfarer series by Becky Chambers, and I can't tell if I need to read the first 3 in order...it looks like maybe not? I know a lot of you out there have read them, thoughts?
First read of 2025: To Be Taught If Fortunate by Becky Chambers.
Almost leisurely until the not-intensity-but-something-like-it slams into you. Like a mirror rushing towards you but it's a mirror so you don't really see it coming and it hits you and shatters and you're left stunned, looking through broken reflections to the beyond, wondering where to go from here. Science fiction like only Becky Chambers does it.
Book 25: “Record of a Spaceborn Few” by #BeckyChambers.
Love this author and this series, but this is the least successful so far. We’re moving further away from the original characters and follow five new (mostly) unrelated characters. It just felt disjointed. And I cared more about some vs. others, e.g. Eyas the caretaker who does funeral rites. Learning more about Exodans and the culture of humans who left earth was really interesting though.

@virtualbri Indeed, you're right! There are some, but sometimes not so mainstream or well know as others may be ( 
such as #BeckyChambers, #nkJemisin, #suJSokol, the Arcane Anime, or in 
Mélodie Joseph, Camille Leboulanger, ÈveGabrielle, Guillaume Chamandjian, Claire Duvivier, JD Kurtness... I realize (1) most of them are books authors, not TV shows or movies, (2) and I am very fond of #hopepunk )

Gdyby ktoś chciał się podzielić wrażeniami (luźno i online) z czytania "Psalmu dla zbudowanych w dziczy", to za trzy tygodnie będzie okazja (tzn. znając poziom dygresyjności tych spotkań, co najmniej połowa rozmowy będzie o czymkolwiek tylko nie o książce - żeby nie było, że nie ostrzegałem).

Listening to A Prayer for the Crown-Shy (#audiobook versions of both books are wonderful). I just got to the part where Dex and Mosscap are heading to Dex's family's house and Dex is explaining their family, and I'm just melting with happiness at how normalized it all is. No spoilers. Just read it. :)

Famos, wie hier nix passiert, und es dennoch kurzweilg und spannend ist.
Großartig, wie wenig geschickt platzierte Begriffe und Beschreibungen es braucht, um ganze Welten zu erschaffen.

I'll mention #DouglasAdams as well. But point you toward Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It's goofy and fun and not terribly deep, but the conceit that Earth was built as a computer to figure out the ultimate question strikes me as an answer to religion.
