After 5 years of fighting to not get #COVID, wearing masks, not eating indoors, etc. I finally tested positive after my dad’s funeral.

I’ve had every vaccine and booster and so far the symptoms are very mild. 72 hours after exposure:
- Chills; but no fever.
- Body aches
- Slight soar throat
- Little appetite

Not a candidate for #Paxlovid even with #UC since I’m not on an immunotherapy.

I’m hoping it passes quickly.

Something I don't see a lot of discussion around is the rise in the need of organ transplants needed because of covid (almost 10% of lung transplants in the US are now needed due to covid)... but also the decrease in transplantable organs because of the damage done from people having covid.

It always amuses me when I get into discussions with Australian men about vaccination, and they accuse me of mindlessly following the government.

1. Bestie, I was an insurrectionalist illegalist anarchist before you were even a zygote.

2. My friend, the government doesn't want you to be covid careful. YOU are the one doing what they want.

Step away from your Ned Kelly profile pic, go sit on the naughty step and have a think about how silly you look right now.

People talking about the person who died from H5N1 in Louisiana - "yeah, but they had underlying health conditions", like y'all haven't just gone through a mass disabling event and caught covid a dozen times in the last 4 years.

Do you know who also has "underlying health conditions", Deborah?? Do you???

I just got back from having my latest covid booster (6th booster) and was chatting to the nurse who administered it. I asked of they were getting many people having their boosters, and she said that the oldies were good at getting them* but it seems like younger people just aren't interested anymore.

Even if they believe covid exists and that vaccination is good and helpful, they believe covid is pmuch over and it's not worth getting boosters because if they catch it they "don't get that sick anyways".

She also said "we're all pretty sure they're all going to just end up having heart attacks."

So relieved to see NYC #COVID rates keep dropping! If the #COVID19 hospitalization count as of October 1 (18 citywide) isn't revised upwards it will be the lowest since March 2020! We may have to start measuring deaths per week instead of per day. And no sign of a fall wave in case or wastewater data!

But 18 !=0, #CovidIsNotOver and everyone is expecting a winter wave.

I got my #novavax on Friday, and still #WearAMask in confined spaces and where there are vulnerable people!

NYC #COVID numbers are going down again! We're down below 2 people hospitalized for #COVID per lakh residents per day, which is where we were at the beginning of June. Still around 1-2 people dying per day.

It might be a good idea to fly somewhere before the winter wave. I'm definitely going to get some karaoke in!

#CovidIsNotOver so I'll #GetBoosted soon, and continue to #WearAMask in confined spaces like trains and elevators, and wherever there are vulnerable people, like doctors' offices!

The latest NYC #COVID numbers are a bit reassuring: not going down as fast as they did in August, but they do seem to be continuing to drop, and there's no sign of a new wave!

I got a haircut yesterday and will probably do some karaoke and take short trips. Hopefully this trough will last through the live karaoke I'm planning to sing at on Oct. 28!

Of course #CovidIsNotOver so I'll #GetBoosted in the next few weeks, and #WearAMask in confined spaces and wherever there are vulnerable people!

I got my flu shot AND my Covid booster today, & they are mildly kicking my ass. Nowhere near as bad as the first Covid shot, but my immune system has definitely kicked into hyperdrive.

Achy eyeballs are just the worst.

.Fresh, new viral armor is cause for celebration, however, so I am treating myself to a little comfort food picnic in my blanket fort on the couch. Jammie pants and comfy pillows FTW.

"Too many Americans have chosen to forego the latest round of vaccination for Covid-19, and they may also have passed it up last year. As a result, their immunity hasn’t had the important upgrades that help the body fend off the worst consequences of Covid-19 infections."
