Because I saw a @codepen demo creating a hex grid using my well over a decade old nested and reverted transforms technique to get the shape + MQs...

My work for the next days: Sewing this flowers and butterflies (there ist batting underneath each, glued with textile glue) with ladder stitch all around the edges on the bought pillow case (80 x 80 cm). After this it is quilting time. 
(Not everything is my colour palette/pattern, but it's especially requested by my kid. I sew a relatively simple quilt blanket out of big blocks in rainbow colours last year for my child and will also appliqué butterflies and my beloved rainbow-flowers on this.)

#tinyCSStip/ fun fact: same aspect ratio is also what we need for a regular hexagon because that can made up of only equilateral triangles!
We just need more points for the clip-path (6 for a hexagon vs. 3 for a triangle).

Crochet instructions clearly said "make (this), 5 times" to make a hexagon.
You fool! You buffoon. You spanner. Five sides? This is a pentagon!
Somewhat later, I re-re-read it & realised the instruction meant to make (this), then make it 5 more times. Six sides, you know- like a hexagon. I am a fool. A buffoon, etc.
