It's Day 24 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth, and we're recommending The Transgender Issue by Shon Faye.
We need to listen to trans voices.

Thank you to those who have seen, signed and shared the open letter to the ELT industry. There are now 170 signatures with 9 without verification.
For me, it's vitally important that the LGBTQIA+ ELT community come together along with our allies in the industry to show that representation matters.
Have you signed and shared yet?

Thank you to those who have already signed and shared the open letter to the ELT industry on representing LGBTQIA+ identities.
In just a few days, we're almost at 100 signatures!
Have you read, signed and shared?
It should be open to anyone in ELT, ESOL, EFL as professionals or learners; anyone in education who wants to see better representation; and anyone from the community who didn't see themselves represented in their own educational experience.

For Day 18 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth, the recommendation today is Working with Autistic Transgender and Non-Binary People, edited by Marianthi Kourti.
'Setting out advice, research and personal reflections to inform professionals’ daily practice and overall understanding of the lives and experiences of autistic transgender and non-binary people.'

Don't forget to sign our open letter to the ELT industry: https://iamnotataboo.com/open-letter/
Many of you know about @iamnotataboo and what I'm trying to do with it.
So, for Day 17 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth, I'm sharing an open letter to the ELT industry, which you are free to sign if you wish from the link on the page.
Erasure of #LGBTQIA identities in ELT has gone on for far too long.
For Day 14 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth, I'm resharing a short blog post I wrote two years ago called Straight Discussion Questions.
Flipping the script on what has been seen in #ELT materials previously, how ridiculous are these questions? No-one's identity is up for debate.
It's Day 14 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth, and today's recommendation is a journal article by Ashley Moore called Understanding Heteronormativity in ELT textbooks: A Practical Taxonomy, which featured in #ELTJournal.
This week is National HIV Testing Week - I've just ordered my free rapid testing kit. Have you?

Today, for Day 13 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth, I'm sharing another free resource, this time called We The Youth, based around Keith Haring and with an updated look at the misconceptions around HIV, and promoting the U=U campaign.
It's aimed at CEFR B2 students and comes with teacher notes.
It's Day 13 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth (UK) and #BlackHistoryMonth (US), and today, I want to share a quote:
'It is rare indeed that people give. Most people guard and keep; they suppose that it is they themselves that they are guarding and keeping, whereas what they are actually guarding and keeping is their system of reality and they assume themselves to be. One can give nothing whatever without giving oneself – that is to say, risking oneself.'
#JamesBaldwin, 'The Fire Next Time'.
It's Day 12 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth and today I'm really pleased to announce the release of my latest inclusive resource called Homelessness.
The theme of #LGBTQHM this year is activism and social change, and gathering inspiration, I decided to go with homelessness with a focus on the LGBTQIA+ community.
Inspired by watching Ada Arencibia's podcast, Out of The Closet, Into The World, I've created a non-grammatical, but critically examining and discursive resource aimed at B2/C1 #CEFR students. By the way, I strongly suggest subscribing to Ada's YouTube channel - http://youtube.com/@OutOfTheClosetIntoTheWorld
This is a free resource, but I request that anyone who downloads it donates to either akt in the UK, or JASMYN, Inc. in the US (suggested by Ada).
For Day 10 of #LGBTQHM, I wanted to share the talk on Teachers Talk Radio, hosted by Harry Waters, featuring Taylor Olivia Veigga, Tyson Seburn and yours truly on 'Is ELT doing enough for LGBTQIA+ Rights and Representation?'
I think you probably know the answer...

For Day 10 of #LGBTQHM, I want to spotlight a podcast talk by Bhavna Raithatha - a short description of the episode is:
This episode discusses how the messages we get as children affect us in our adult lives. Many times, we live out the expectations of others rather than ourselves, and Bhavna reminds us of the importance of designing a life of your own.
For Day 9 of #LGBTQHM, I’m sharing my resource for #ValentinesDay, Love is Love, aimed at #CEFR B2.
This is a paid resource, but incorporates different kinds of love.
For Day 9 of #LGBTQHM, I’m resharing the first guest blog on #IAmNotATaboo, Being Visible as a Queer Teacher in ELT by Jordan Putman
If you’d like to submit a blog, see the blog submission page.

It’s Day 8 of #LGBTQHM.
It’s important to realise that the LGBTQIA+ community is diverse in nature and each identity deserves to be represented.
Today, I’m suggesting Home is Where …, a resource aimed at #CEFR B2+ students, looking at the Traveller community and some idioms.
It’s Day 5 of #LGBTQPlusHistoryMonth!
For today, I’m excited to share an updated resource of mine.
Who Are You? was one of my first resources in 2022. Like many of the early resources, it was quite short with no teacher notes.
I’ve now updated it from 4 pages to 9, included teacher notes and updated the images to be more inclusive.
And it remains a FREE resource as I promised that some of the resources will always remain free.
If you download, please consider leaving a review.
It’s day 4 of #LGBTQHM and #BHM.
I’m sharing a newer resource today called Circumstances, aimed at #CEFR B1 and the past perfect.
In my resources, it’s important for me to have images of a wide range of people - not just those that reflect me (because that would be boring and not reality). I’m pleased with the images in this resource, as well as introducing #Pansexuality into my collection.
