Heute findet in #Wien eine Demo mit dem Namen "Trauergang" für die verlorene Lebenszeit von #MECFS, #Longcovid & #PostVacSyndrom betroffenen Menschen mit anschließender, 5 minütiger #Liegenddemo auf dem Platz vor dem Parlament statt.

Ich habe mich - schon frühzeitig - dazu entschlossen, daran nicht persönlich teilzunehmen, sondern mich vertreten zu lassen. Eine "Stellvertreterin" ist für mich dort, danke danke danke vielmals.

Of course, many barriers are also caused by society's lack of awareness and accommodations for people with low energy.

This is a big gap in the popular understanding of #accessibility.

We met Ayaan at the #LiegendDemo, who told us about accommodations during high school exams. Its possible to get extra time during an exam. But for people with low energy thats not helpful as they cant sit & concentrate for so long. They would rather need exams broken up into shorter units.

This is just one example of how the accessibility needs of people with low energy are widely ignored by society and politics. And it’s time for that to change!

ME/CFS also has a big impact on our way of working as a #film collective. We have to very carefully plan what we do & where we put our energy. Travelling is a lot more complicated and often not possible at all.

And we always have to plan extra time in case of a crash!

We have to run on crip time, so time has to fit itself to our capacities and not the other way around.

That's why we only managed to post this thread now and not straight after the #LiegendDemo.

ME can be a very isolating illness. Many people have so little energy that they cant leave home at all or only very rarely and at risk of a crash that will worsen their condition even more. Pacing is crucial to avoid these crashes.

Often just receiving short visits at home can already be too much. Awareness of and respect for energy levels is very important. For many even joining the #LiegendDemo online could be a harmful amount of activity.

Considering all that it shows how urgently more research, treatment options, awareness and care are needed for ME that so many of those affected took such a risk to show up on #MEAwarenessDay.

Time for society to pay attention and finally provide the support thats needed!

Tröte von der #LiegendDemo vor dem Bundestag. Weil heute #MEAwarenessDay ist.
Sehe mich unter den Leuten um und stelle fest: Von den üblichen Verdächtigen, die ich sonst auf linken Demos sehe, sind hier max. so ungefähr 5 Personen anwesend. Ganz so, als würde kaum wer #AntiAbleistischeAktion als zentrales linkes Thema ernstnehmen. In einer Zeit, in der Ableismus mit eugenischen Zügen extrem auf dem Vormarsch ist. Zusammen mit den anderen wachsenden gruseligen faschistischen Tendenzen, die wir nicht einfach so hinnehmen dürfen.
Find ich ja nur so mäßig geil, eine egoistische Linke, in der sich Leute, die sich vor Behinderung safe fühlen, vor allem freuen, dass sie jetzt wieder zur Fusion können, weil ja Corona vorbei ist.
