Today In Labor History April 9, 1948: The Irgun and Lehi Zionist paramilitary slaughtered over 100 Palestinians in the Deir Yassin massacre, near Jerusalem. Many of the victims were women and children. Rape and mutilation were also alleged. It was part of the Nakba and expulsion of Palestinians from Palestine. As news of the massacre spread, it sparked terror among Palestinians throughout the region, convincing many to flee their homes. It also strengthened the resolve of Arab governments to attack, which they did a few weeks later, sparking the Arab-Israeli War of 1948. Menachim Begin was leader of the Irgun at the time. He went on to found the Likud Party and he became prime minister of Israel from 1977 to 1983. Many Arab states produced postage stamps commemorating the massacre. All of them use the image of a map of Palestine with a bloody dagger thrust into it.

No food or medical supplies, nothing has been allowed into Gaza for a month by the murdering Jewish-supremacist colonial administration.
Meanwhile plans proced to annex and clear all of Palestine of the Palestinians.
I do hope that one day, from the river to the sea, #Palestine will be free, but I have little hope given all the anabling governments from Budapest to London to Washington to Berlin.

Interview: Palestinian writer, Mohammed El-Kurd, describes a childhood overtaken by Israeli settlers & the New York Jews who've joined them:

"The guy currently in our house is from Long Island." He "fled fraud charges in the US & has found himself a safe haven in our home."

There's a "large number of Jewish New York residents in these kinds of settler groups."

Quoting Uzi Barham: Ben-Gurion, Father of the Nakba? This weighed on him greatly

Baram acknowledges the historical reality of the #Nakba, but he also attempts to reclaim Ben-Gurion's legacy from those who would use it to justify current policies of displacement. He argues that Ben-Gurion, while not without responsibility for the events of 1948, viewed the Nakba as a problem for #Israel, both politically and morally. He cites historical examples of Ben-Gurion's attempts to mitigate the consequences of the displacement, such as his consideration of returning Palestinian refugees.

[…] Ben-Gurion held a consultation with the political leadership (Golda Meir) and with the agency leadership (Moshe Sharett) and said: "We did not expel Arabs from the Land of Israel. First of all, it is necessary to tell the facts how they fled. To the extent that it was known to me, most of the fleeing did so before the establishment of the state. Only the Arabs of Ramle and Lod left their place or were pressured to leave." In this context, Tom Segev writes in his book "A State at Any Cost" that Ben-Gurion was careful to say in the case of the Arabs of Lod-Ramle that "explicit instructions were given not to expel the residents and it turned out that they were forced."

Interesting defense of Ben-Gurion's legacy. However, critics would undoubtedly argue that the act of fleeing, as occurred after the Deir Yassin massacre, is functionally equivalent to the expulsion of people at gunpoint. The practical consequences and the established status quo have consistently favored Israel, to the disadvantage of the Palestinians.

"La roadmap di #Trump e #Netanyahu: #nakba trasferimento forzato ed espulsione.

L'annuncio di Trump di questa mattina (5 febbraio) costituisce un appello alla pulizia etnica.
L'idea è folle e riprovevole. Indipendentemente dalla sua fattibilità, il fatto stesso del suo annuncio è una macchia morale indelebile per tutti i soggetti coinvolti.
L'attuazione di un tale piano sarebbe una grave violazione del diritto internazionale."
