Seeking recommendations for a #WebMapping tutorial / course?

Slightly at sea on where to start.

- My current JS skill level is _extreme novice_.
- I don't have access to ArcGIS.
- Comfortable with #QGIS [*] and the #python #geospatial ecosystem (#geopandas #xarray #rasterio and plotting with #matplotlib)

Suggestions welcome. TIA. 👍

* I have looked at the qgis2web plugin, but having some issues associated with my aged laptop (2012 mbp running Ubuntu) and a 'Wayland session'.

I lost a lot of productivity this year to the assumption that Esri tools would operate consistently, have their basic functions tested, and actually work out of the box.

2024 is gonna be the year we start the Great FOSS Migration, building out some #MapLibre or #OpenLayers pages for the public, non-editable stuff, using file-based data layers like #flatgeobuf and home-grown vector tiles.

Gonna be quite the undertaking!

Here is an update on my side project #mapstyler.

The app allows you to easily create styles for vector datasets based on the Mapbox Style Specification. You can host the styles on a server and easily import them into your #geo #webapp running #openlayers, #leaflet or any other library that supports style json's.

I worked on implementing styling based on property filters. Check out demo below.

It's work in progress. Will put this online in near future.

#Introduction Trained as a historian at the university of #Trier I started programming during my exchange year in Bordeaux, France. After my graduation I worked at the University of Trier and specialized in Historical GIS #hisgis #hgis. Currently I am working in the field of #spatialhumanities and #digitalhumanities at the Hessische Institut für Landesgeschichte in #Marburg, using Open Source Technologies (#Python, #QGIS, #Gdal, #GRASS, #OpenLayers, #Angular et. al.)

Intro! Happy to be here on mastodon and meeting new people! I am a geospatial developer most interested in #FOSS4G and new applications of #HistoricalMaps and #digitalhum geo things like that. Currently I'm mainly using #qgis #django #python #svelte #geoserver #Openlayers and #titiler.

My current project is a #crowdsourcing site for georeferencing #Sanborn fire insurance maps of US cities: oldinsurancemaps.net.
