Hi! By way of #introduction my name is Max and I live in the Greater Toronto Area #gta now. I used to go by the handle of IntelAgent on the #hackingandphreaking channel on dalnet in the late 90s. I'm freshly newborn on Mastodon but I'm hoping it's got a similar vibe.
I've done most jobs on the #defensive side of #infosec and although I'm constantly suffering from #impostersyndrom my main goal is to pay things forward and help people get into InfoSec with as much of a hand down while standing on the shoulders of giants that my time permits. To this effort I was a co-host of the inSecurity #podcast I'm an organizing committee member of BSides Toronto and the Toronto Area Security Klatch #TASK and occasional helper at #C3X and #SecTor.
I like security frameworks, and doing strategy work now, but found myself on the security sales side of the world as a client security architect attached to sales folk. I justify this to myself as tempering then and ensuring our clients get what actually help them improve their company's security posture.
For hobbies I #homebrew #beer and do #homerenos. I still play #videogames. I love to learn new things and put myself in challenging situations. I'm married with 3 kids and am not a creep. I ask a lot of questions to help understand where people are coming from because I'm an optimist.
