Lightning over Kanopolis.

This was captured beneath a particularly intense and at times nearly supercell thunderstorm that ranged across central Kansas on May 8, 2021. I set up two cameras, one on an intervalometer and the other with a lightning trigger.

This was actually the result of a timed exposure with the invervalometer engaged and speaks to the intensity of the lightning barrage that I was able to capture multiple bolts in a single 5 second exposure.

I was watching the storm from the safety of my car, with the proximity and frequency of the lightning strikes hitting a little too close for comfort!

I was able to get out yesterday to chase a storm that lingered over portions of southwest Missouri for the better part of the afternoon and evening. While the storm was largely non-photogenic on the leading edge, it produced some interesting structure early in its life-cycle, which I was fortunate to capture here.
