So my next question about the #TheExpanse and #physics is:
Is thrust even possible in space? Is it possible for a ship to speed up and slow down?
I don't know about the books but the story threads in the TV series are pretty sloppy.
There are a few random storylines that literally go nowhere. In season 6 it's a storyline about some alien necromancer dogs.
And one series has the finale half way through, then continues with obviously the beginning of the next book. I guess that was something to do with the series being cancelled or something.
It's an odd series because it's pretty good but just so very sloppy at times.
OK, so the gravity on the ships comes from thrust.
I'm not no physicist or anything but wouldn't that mean to maintain constant gravity the ship would have to be continually accelerating?
If so, that doesn't seem particularly plausible to me.
If you're looking for Game of Thrones meets The Expanse, (and you were, you didn't know it yet) then you've got it right here!
2nd evening #astrophotography, first time with a Sky Watcher mount, my new Sony A7 IV and Sigma 400mm. Still very n00by, but I was amazed seeing Saturn's moons Ganymede, Europa and Callisto! Having watched #theexpanse, I know exactly what'll go down there in a few hundred years...
I then went to try and shoot nebulae from my balcony in Zurich - but got nothing but light pollution.
While I don't love #TheExpanse, my - most likely unpopular - opinion is that it is better than #Babylon5
@DoomsdaysCW don't they have some problems with strange dogs there? #expanse #theExpanse
You know, I hate Pet Sematary and all of that, but theres a #theExpanse plotline in Strange Dogs that hits all the same notes and I kinda love it. It builds up so much in the books. Sometimes in the TV show because they only do the Pet Sematary plot it feels like a relief because in the books its actually so much worse. @bookstodon #amReading #Expanse
You know in #TheExpanse, how come James has about twenty mums and twenty dads or something, but he looks a bit dopey and not like Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Who in Canada that isn't Amazon sells The Expanse on DVD or BluRay? Full series set preferred.
Watching The Expanse for the first time. 4 seasons in. It's not great but it is good, and sometimes very good. Far better than Battlestar Galactica, which I found mystifyingly well received; not in the same class as Babylon 5 – but then, what is.
Finally got around to buying The Expanse on physical media. Wish it was a 4K release but honestly the Blu-ray looks pretty damn good anyway.
#TheExpanse season 2 is definitely better than season 1.
Season 2 does exposition a bit better. In fact, it's almost a little too simplistic, with the last lines of the scene being a neat stupid-friendly summary of what's been said.
But I much prefer it that way than not. I much prefer knowing what's going on.
I wonder if that was a common complaint from viewers because the series makers seemed to have made more of an effort to make it easier to follow.
And the storyline is pretty much a single story now. Or each episode focuses on one thing. Season 1 has separate storylines that are destined to come together, and that does affect the enjoyment a little.
Season 2 is markedly better.
#PhotoOfTheDay is the one and only Adam Savage at SiliCon 2022... I got to talk to him very briefly while he signed my poster for #TheExpanse and an 8x10 that my son wanted, having grown up watching Mythbusters.
idk when I speak of #TheExpanse, I can't help referring to it as The Expanding Waistband.
#TheExpanse is a good show I think.
However, I don't feel it's particularly original. It feels like Babylon 5 and Star Trek - perhaps more B5.
There are plenty of cliche pieces of dialogue, like a know what retort someone is going to make before they say it.
And the themes are generally seen-it-before.
It's nothing new. But I'm enjoying it so far.
