@DJDarren My wife's current fave tune. The title is "Eat Eat Eat", the artist is Sandy Yanisa. Lyrics are something like "Forget all the bitterness, let sweets heal everything / Yummy Yummy Yummy ah ah ah Eat Eat Eat Eat / Creamy Creamy Creamy Cream Eat Eat Eat Eat" Bon appetit! ;-) #ThePlaylistSuggestion #Gluttony #Thailand #ThaiPop youtube.com/watch?v=I6wxOa-rJis

Overnight thoughts were of a couple of comeback albums by musicians who spent a long time having a quiet life in the countryside, thoroughly disillusioned with the music business, before eventually being persuaded to give it another go.

And in true Playlist style, they have a slightly different kind of sound to one another:

Scott Walker - Farmer in the City (from 1995's Tilt, his first release for eleven years)

Vashti Bunyan - Wayward (from 2005's Lookaftering, her first release for all of 35 years)

Also, I have a handful of much more straightforwardly literal suggestions:

Lord Kitchener - Come Back in the Morning

The Magnetic Fields - Come Back from San Francisco

Aretha Franklin - Come Back Baby (there are many, many versions of this song, but Aretha's upbeat dance-oriented take is unsurprisingly my favourite)

Elvis - That's Alright (specifically, the live version from the '68 Comeback Special, because if it's not from the Comeback Special then it doesn't fit the theme and I've just suggested a random song for no reason)

And if you have a shortage of covers of TV themes, can I recommend the band Dream Themes (one of Rhodri Marsden’s projects) which does belter versions of loads of them, eg The Antiques Roadshow. There’s lots of short, fun ones on this album.

And for extremely literal, why not Kojak Columbo by Harry Nilsson:

“You got nineteen inches, baby, that's a real good size
I could lie there on the floor and just look at you all night long
I could twist your knobs right off, fool around with you
I don't need no TV guide tell me what to do”

I do have some other suggestions, now that I'm marginally awake.

Television Personalities - I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives

The Mighty Terror - TV Calypso
(surprisingly, given that calypso's commercial peak and the mainstream adoption of television happened around the same time, this is the only TV-related calypso I'm aware of)

Anything by the Undertones. Let's say Teenage Kicks, shall we? This is because - tenuous link ahoy! - Feargal Sharkey was a TV delivery man for Radio Rentals in the band's early days (they used his van to get to gigs). One day, he heard that they'd been invited to perform Teenage Kicks on Top of the Pops. He told his Radio Rentals colleagues that he was popping out to get some lunch, and never returned.

The Cure - Close to Me. I was trying to think of tv themes, but could only come up with either sports programmes (which we've already done) or things I wouldn't particularly want to recommend. But the mid-00s BBC sitcom The Smoking Room had Close to Me as its theme. So there.

First thought - well, apart from Marquee Moon, obviously (they did release a four minute radio edit some years back for the whateverth anniversary) - is the magnificent TV Party by Black Flag. I couldn't forgive myself if I didn't suggest that. Although someone else probably would've done. But what if they didn't?

I should have some other suggestions, although I've already suggested TV Party and Marquee Moon so I'm not sure where I can go from here.
