We finally had a freeze here in our little corner of #Zone6B, a full month after our average first frost date.
I'm always amazed at how the first frost will reduce a tomato plant to almost nothing. It's like steaming a whole bag of spinach, and ending up with two tablespoons of greens.
Final cleanup in the garden before today's cold front with snow/rain showers revealed a small cilantro plant sprouting.
Quickly dug it out, planted in a small pot, and now it's sitting on the kitchen windowsill with another cilantro plant overwintering inside.
Hello from downtown Kansas City, Missouri. We just drove by a community garden and like with our own garden, there are still happy tomatoes on the vine.
This is not normal for the middle of November!
Earlier this week I saw Plains Coreopsis blooms in our garden.
Along with 3 inches of new growth on a rose bush.
The black swallowtail caterpillar is still hanging out on the parsley, despite several nights of frost.
Not sure which instar it's at, but the caterpillar no longer has the white center mark. And it hasn't turned green yet.
We have another week of 50 degrees Fahrenheit weather forecast next week, so I still have some time to clean up my garden tools for winter.
"I Aten't Dead" So says the sign appearing next to BeetBear as he continues to slumber amongst our apple stores. He started napping in mid Oct. when the gardening finished for the season. It's been quite dry here for the last 2 months, with only 1.35"/34mm of rain since end of Aug. Last rain was 20 days ago. It's getting pretty dusty out there! Hope everyone is keeping well! (Apologies to Pratchett fans)

Back on 29 September, I posted about my carrots-in-a-pot. Today's update shows a better view of the way the carrots grow in the pot. We have harvested about 2 dozen carrots so far, so now there's room to see them close-up. Also they are expanding so much that they've split the pot. I have to hunt around for another pot of at least 12 gallon (45 liter) to use next year.

Lots of bright orange, yellow, pink, and red colors in the garden from marigolds, cosmos, and zinnias though the lobelia and Black-eyed Susans have stopped blooming.
A purple coneflower started blooming 2 weeks ago. Lettuce I planted from seed last month germinated in 2 days.
