Trump has shown that all bets are off - all contracts are null & void. I reckon tell them the rent has gone up (and to be paid in advance, of course) for all military and intelligence facilities. We should be able to screw enough out of them to more than cover the cost of those submarines that we're never likely to get anyway.

Phase one sees US nuclear powered and nuclear armed subs based in Australia. Partially crewed and supported by Australia but under US command.
The US nuclear armed subs get a strategic base on the Indian Ocean rim, which we pay to build and run, and we also pay the US on top of that to do it. It was meant to be a stop-gap until we got our own boats, but a deal this bad for Australia incentivises Trump to not supply them. And we even gave them a clause that lets them do that.
This is the worst deal in the history of deals. It's all sunk costs. Get out now and ask the French if we can restart the original deal as a co-project with Canada. #Aukus #Trump #Canada #Auspol

As part of the AUKUS agreement with the US & the UK, Australia has signed up to buy nuclear-powered AUKUS subs. The cost is "up to $368bn" and delivery is a long-term thing.
But Australia may never receive its subs because US production is down and America will almost certainly keep them for themselves.
