“Khirbet Samra is one of the few remaining Palestinian shepherding communities in Area C of the northern Jordan Valley, which falls under complete Israeli control. Like many other #Bedouin communities in the area, its residents have faced escalating settler violence since Israel’s war on Gaza began in October 2023…”

”From large-scale livestock theft, to home raids and beatings, the violence and displacement spiked in the Jordan Valley after the Israeli military launched ‘Operation Iron Wall’ in January”

“… Trump’s return and the new military assault in the West Bank, [the founder of Kerem Navot Dror] Etkes continued, provided ‘a clear sign for the settlers to escalate their violence to expel more Palestinians.’

How to embrace a normative system seemingly incompatible with nomadic life, given that it presupposes a state governed by an Islamic ruler (imām) and considers the city the natural environment of legal institutions?

Ismail Warscheid (CNRS-IRHT, irht.cnrs.fr/fr/annuaire/warsc) reads the _Book of the Desert (Kitāb al-Bādiya)_, a nineteenth-century legal treatise composed by Muḥammad al-Māmī (d. 1282/1865), a Muslim scholar from the Tiris desert in present-day Mauritania. And, by looking at Bedouin Islam, he challenges the narratives of center-periphery that have dominated Islamic intellectual history.

‘The most successful land-grab strategy since 1967’ as settlers push Bedouins off West Bank territory
The tiny settlement overlooking the Bedouin village of Ein Rashash is named “Angels of Peace”, but, says Sliman al-Zawahri, its residents have visited only violence, fear and despair on his family.
This week the Bedouin community packed up most of their belongings and drove all the women, children and elderly people from the West Bank ridge

Finally, some reporting in mainstream media on the ongoing violent land grabs by armed illegal settlers on the West Bank, which has ramped up in the last days under cover of the war on Gaza.

"They didn’t leave us air to breathe”
"They came into the village and destroyed houses and sheep pens, beat an 85-year-old man, scared our children. Slowly our lives became unlivable.”
