“They were terrible. I actually told them we were in Canada and was going to make a complaint to #Chrysler #Canada and they were like ‘Sure, we don’t even speak #Canadian,'” Jay said. “They’re extorting us to get money out of us to be able to use our vehicle.”

After yesterday’s smaller Facel 6, here’s more ‘French luxury’ with a representative of the company’s earlier Facel Vega range of larger, more powerful cars, I think an HK500, a model introduced in 1959. These bigger cars used V8 engines from Chrysler or other Mopar brands. Photo (sorry for the blur) from Techno Classica Essen, 2013.
I stopped off at the Chrysler Museum of Art to see their new glass studio renovation. I worked there from 2015-2017 and when leaving, there was lots of exciting talk of their renovation.
My buddy Matt Jacob was curating a little neon show to coincide with their NEON festival that supports the Arts (or real estate) district. I was happy to contribute a few new pieces, and install them on a fresh new wall.
There is the Big Wiped French Orange Coil sitting atop the outlet, the Strawberry SpringSphere inside Warm White SpringSphere shining brightly atop a pedestal and my Fallible Luv Heart.
Oh and people can control the Fallible heart from their phones by logging into the pieces wifi network. It bumps them off their own data connections so I have their attention :)
These will be on display in Norfolk, VA for the next few months at least :). See them at the #Chrysler Museum #Glass Studio if your in town.
If you drive anything owned by Stellantis (Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Etc) - be careful out there. This is the 2nd time we've received this message in 4 weeks. Stellantis will push back as hard as they can for anything warranty related to save them money.
1st time - brought the van to the dealership. Dealership determined transmission needs replacement. We are under warranty so no problem, right? Dealership opens a case with Chrysler/Stellantis to get their approval for the transmission replacement since it's under warranty. Chrysler/Stellantis denied the part due to the dealership not able to replicate the error message. They do recognize that the error occured and that the error is stored in the computer. Dealership put over 100 miles driving it but no dice. Stellantis reimburses us over $500 for the rental car and we get our minivan back.
2nd time - this morning I drove it less than 2 miles from my house and this happened. I pull over and take the picture. Restart the car and I'm able to drive it to the dealership for round 2. Talking with Chrysler Customer Care during round 1 and they said that if the message pops up again, that would be proof of the error replicating.
Hopefully next week will yield some favorable results.
I #SUV sono per gente insicura e con complessi di inferiorità. Lo dice qualche blog di fricchettoni? No, lo dice la ricerca di mercato a cui si è affidata #Chrysler negli anni '90. https://t.me/AnarchoGardening/1323

As promised, a PS to the Autobianchi A112 story. This car, a Chrysler, is a direct lineal descendent of the A112. How so? In 1985, the A112 was replaced by the Autobianchi Y10 (the Lancia Y10 in some markets), followed by three generations of Lancia Ypsilon. The last of these was sold as a Chrysler in the UK. Italians bought the Ypsilon in huge numbers, saving the Lancia badge, and now there will be a new Ypsilon this year. Pic: local car park
While there I couldn't help but stop into the main museum real quick to see their show "Fantastic Creatures of the Venetian Lagoon"
Yeah yeah, I know there ARE other glassblowers out there, but the decadence of the Murano glass in these era's never seems to get old for me. These fantastical creatures and Zaney designers one upping each other are perfect examples! I couldn't help but photograph just about every one of them.
Gosh, I am a sucker for fru fru Venetian goblets and glass! This show more than delivered!
Made it down to Norfolk, VA for a work delivery and managed to catch up with a few old friends. Neat to see the Glass studio I used to work at is expanding (at least tripling in size). They talked about it when I was leaving, but it's nice to see it actually happening!
Their new logo is pretty generic, but I guess that's what the money people wanted. They had a mother's day studio sale, so it was neat seeing a bunch of old and new friends work.
The 1977 Chrysler (later Talbot) Sunbeam was basically a reskinned short-wheelbase Hillman Avenger. But its 'opening rear window' style hatch was copied from the Imp, which also donated the Sunbeam's 928cc entry-level engine. At the other end of the range, the much more powerful Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, snapped here at #Retromobile Paris in 2014, was a competition success, winning the 1980 RAC Rally and the 1981 World Rally Championship. In 1970, the Hillman Imp (featured yesterday) gained a Rootes/Chrysler stablemate in the form of the well regarded Hillman Avenger, a competitor for British Leyland’s Marina. The Avenger was a bigger car than the rear-engined Imp, with a conventional front-engine/RWD layout, but the Imp and Avenger branches of the Rootes family tree would later unite in a single model. More on that tomorrow. Pic: #GreatBritishCarJourney, Derbyshire.
Yesterday I explained how the design of the 1961 Simca 1000 owed much to its maker’s then main shareholder, Fiat. But within a few years, Simca was controlled by Chrysler, bringing the 1000 under the same corporate roof as Rootes’ Hillman Imp, a British rear-engined car of similar concept, albeit with two doors rather than four. The Imp was produced until 1976, the Simca until 1978. Pic taken: #NationalMotorMuseum, Beaulieu, Hants, 2023.
