There’s nothing there for me
I’ve explored and found it lacking
The constant peace of mind
And the occasional euphoria
That evaded me in the past
I’m not going back...

I support @juliaserano in the fight to maintain #LGBTQ rights - tell your politicians: we will not go back. Hold our government accountable for their actions. Make them remember they are OUR representatives. They work for us - let's get what we pay for.
This photo by the iconic photographer Leonard Fink was taken in May the year that I was born, 1970. When I think of the pain, heartbreak and death that awaited many of these men in the 1980s, I think of what a failure our government, our country became in the face of AIDS all because of the bigotry of homophobia, transphobia. We cannot go back even a few years. Allies speak up.

Here is my #LGBTQNotGoingBack post, which includes a MASTER LIST of everyone else's posts, plus instructions for HOW TO CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TODAY to let them know that #LGBTQ ppl aren't going away!

No one is going to drag us back to pseudo-moral uniformity, frightened silence, stigmatizing hate and cultural monotony.

To #Michigan #Democrats: #Transgender people did NOT lose the election, you did.
I offer bracing encouragement, and a line in the sand.
If you throw #trans/ #LGBTQ people under the bus, I will campaign against you. Now get out there as LEADERS and WIN! #LGBTQNotGoingBack
To all cis, straight, white allies — this isn’t the time to be silent.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people need candidates who defend and represent us. If a candidate supports who we are and how we live, we may be able to support their run for office. If they don’t, we can’t.

Trans rights are not great in this country. They never really have been, but in recent years, there has been an uptick in anti-trans sentiment. And so, what is the Left doing in response to this worsening trend?

Cole, and many other trans folks I’ve met, are deeply concerned about what another Donald Trump presidency could mean for the rights we’ve fought so hard to secure.

Politics is not a fight about which policies are best; it’s a matter of life and death.

How can we demand to not go back when so many don’t know where we came from?

I will not grovel for your approval. My rights are not yours to grant. You do not own my dignity.

Oh, you’ll pass unenforceable laws to try and render me invisible? Hah, too late! I’m old, and in a youth-worshipping consumer culture that renders me invisible already.

I won't vote for you if you don't vote for me.

I don’t think I ever did an intro here
So
Hi, I’m Elodie (or Lyra)
I’m a 50 something trans femby from the West Midlands
I live with my wife in Germany
I did a bachelor’s and master’s in environmental science/engineering, then learned to build bike frames, and more recently qualified as a counsellor/coach
I once won a prize for best cake in show
I write about my experiences as a trans person, my MH struggles, about bicycles, and share stories about the same.
I’m here to support and help my trans and gnc siblings, and am happy to talk about any of the surgeries that I’ve had, or anything else.

What makes this moment even more heartbreaking is that it isn’t just coming from those who have always opposed our existence — it’s also a betrayal from those who claimed to stand with us.

A little over two years ago, my wife and I moved to Colorado from North Carolina to feel safer as two transgender people. I was very grateful when I arrived in Colorado. I’m still grateful. I’m also scared.

I’m not a political expert, so I’m not offering you advice. I’m just letting you know where my priorities are. Queer equality is critical to me.
