Living near the ancient French oil mining areas (17th century - 1960s, now part of the nature park Vosges du Nord), I'm fascinated by this topic.
I visited sterile oil sands from WWI and was fascinated what happened with nature when humans do *nothing* - and shocked, how long and extreme human destruction works.

I published #books in Germany (with fixed prices) but it's similar. I know a famous writer with several awards who sells about 500 copies a year in the most famous literary publishing house.
And the money is a gross amount, freelance writers have to use it to pay for their workplace and insurances, taxes etc.

@pluralistic Oh, that was a wonderfully cheeky "over-clickbait". I clicked. I wanted to know: What, this person? Should I have misjudged him?
And then I had a huge pleasure as the article chased me through the polarities to present its finely differentiated findings. It got exciting.
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed reading something so serious so much! 
Here's a review, a literary piece on #Anora written by a sex worker. It confirms my suspicions, but it also is a great text. So make sure you read it.

My advice: Don't just read the titles of the chapters, but read the whole book (or listen to the author read the audiobook).
Then follow up on Snyders advice.

Bonhoeffer war V-Mann, Widerständler, christlicher Theologe. Von der Gestapo 1939 verhaftet, wurde er zwei Wochen vor Kriegsende 1945 im KZ Flossenbürg hingerichtet.
