Hello! I'm SimonSays and a huge gaming nerd of all kinds. On consoles I'm predominantly a #NintendoSwitch player but also own a #PS5 and #XboxSeriesXS. I have a #SteamDeck too because you can never have too many platforms.

I'm currently playing through Mario & Luigi Brothership on Switch.

I've also gotten into #PokemonTCG in a big way the past year, both in collecting and competing. Looking forward to talking with you all!

We went to our #FriendlyLocalGamesStore on saturday, 'cause the kids wanted to check out what their #Pokemon day was all about. I got to be the chaperoning parent for my two and a couple of their friends, and it was such fun.

There were a great mix of adult and kid collectors and players, who were all there to just share in the joy of the hobby. The adults there were happy to chat to the kids about how to make fair trades, and how to assess the condition of the cards. The staff were happy to check trades as well, and gave fair and educated assesments of trades so that the kids weren't losing out, or unintentionally making unfair trades.

One of the adults even sat down with the kids and taught them how to make a good deck for matches, which led to a pokemon deck building and #gaming day at our place on sunday.

It was a great experience for the kids and we're super thankful to the shop and everyone for such a lovely day.

Pokémon TCG pocket is good but I spend so much time staring at the booster pack countdowns, omg.

I like the way they’ve balanced the free-to-play and paid elements. Paying players do get a boost to the amount of cards they can get, but it’s not an infinite supply, like it is with other Gacha games.

So a whale can’t just keep spending money until they get all the cards, which is nice.

I’m just annoyed because I have 3 deck lists that are each one card away from being complete! And have been for nearly a weeeeeek.

I’ve only managed to complete one deck list so far (Venusaur ex). Despite having nearly 600 cards, and having opened nearly 100 booster packs

My plans for 2024:

- Get more friends in #PokemonGO (my trainer code is 2859 1212 7712).
- Spend more time playing #PokemonTCG in person!
- Finally look for a #Japanese tutor online or in person.
