So busy today, I don't have the time to make up a good #Doorsday pun. 😥

Today's #door or rather #doors are not from a church, ha! It's from the old #post office in #Magdeburg. It's an impressive #historic building (built in 1895), not far from the Cathedral. Today it houses the Justice Centre, but a small part of it is still used as a #postOffice. The signs say "letters" and "telegrams".

The ornate entrance to a historic building, possibly a post office, is captured in a medium shot. The building's facade is constructed from light brown sandstone blocks, showing signs of weathering and age. #BettyWhite now has her own #ForeverStamp from the #USPS , thanks to Boston-area artist #DaleStephanos .

It took him about a year to design and complete. At the request of Betty's family, he included references to her work championing the cause of #AmimalRights , the most obvious symbol being the pawprint earring.

Stephanos' image of Betty brilliantly captures her sense of mischief and fun, by perfectly portraying her joyful smile and sparkling eyes.

actionnetwork.orgStop Trump's Illegal USPS Takeover Donald Trump is attempting an illegal takeover of the United States Postal Service by firing the entire Postal Board of Governors and placing the USPS directly under the control of billionaire Trump donor Howard Lutnick, recently sworn in as Secretary of Commerce. Trump described it as a “type of merger.” But here’s the truth, the Postal Service is not a private business and it doesn’t belong to Trump or the White House, it belongs to the American people. This move is unconstitutional and blatantly illegal. In 1970, Congress passed the Postal Reorganization Act, explicitly removing the Postal Service from presidential control. They established the USPS as an independent, self-funded public agency. Trump's executive order would blatantly violate the law and undermine the separation of powers essential to our democracy. The Postal Board of Governors must reject this unlawful attempt by refusing Trump's firing order, and stay on the job to fight back. If Trump is successful, postal workers, seniors, and rural Americans will bear the brunt of the devastating consequences. Over 640,000 dedicated postal employees, including 73,000 veterans, will see their livelihoods jeopardized. Rural communities risk losing guaranteed delivery of medication, Social Security checks, ballots, and other essential mail. Trump's illegal plan would pave the way for a possible privatization of our public postal system by chopping up USPS, selling off its parts, and putting profit margins over public service. This isn't the first time we've faced such a threat. We've stopped Trump before, from privatization efforts in 2018 to attempted sabotage before the 2020 elections. Together with our diverse coalition of labor unions, veterans, voting rights advocates, civil rights groups, and grassroots activists across the nation, we've protected our Postal Service and we can and will do it again. Now we must stop Trump's unconstitutional power grab and keep the Postal Service in public hands, where it belongs. Hmmm.... a glimmer of hope that after the Post Office Horizon IT scandal & persecution/prosecution of innocent post-masters, there may be some criminal prosecutions of the mangers who perpetrated this injustice... lets hope so; these callous people need to brought down & punished....

However, justice delayed is justice denied, and for many of those affected by these bogus court cases, justice may have come too late, much too late!

A Q, for UK residents:

My postie informed me yesterday that due to cuts & managerial decisions at the local sorting office, I will now only be getting post every other day.... and I wondered how many more of you have been told something similar?

If its widespread I cannot see how the PO will keep to its assurance to OFCOM about next day delivery of first class mail, or is this something that will just be quietly introduced in rural areas?

Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke is calling for the end of Canada’s public postal service because its workers have gone on strike.

The company’s leaders are increasingly pushing extreme right-wing positions in Canada. Gutting Canada Post would effectively end delivery in many rural and remote communities because it’s not profitable for private companies to serve them.

At least 67k small businesses on Shopify use Canada Post, and will be affected by them going on strike right on BFCM weekend. Canada Post has a government monopoly on delivering to P.O. boxes and is the only carrier supplying rural areas. This should not be allowed.
