I made a second visit to the Superstition Wilderness in March of 2019, featured for this #ThrowbackThrusday. I was out to make a loop past Hackberry Spring with a thought to heading up the mountain by the same name. I ended up visiting both, but altered my route from planned a little.

Early morning light over the Superstition Mountains, Arizona. A flat near land, wide mountain with a cliff on the right side, and clouds. The flat is scattered with teddy bear cholla, a cactus that stands with numerous arms that keep splitting, all covered in a thick, light colored collection of spins reminiscent of fur. Some taller, green and skeletal, vegetation sticks up behind them. The mountain is red rock and green growth on the gentler slopes. The clouds are puff balls lit from the left side.
Looking down from near the top of Hackberry Mesa. Flat rocks with wispy greenery at the sides drops down toward a canyon. The sides of the canyon are cliffs of varying heights. Further along, the landscape appears flat again, rising to some low, wide hills. Further still, rocks point to the sky near more flat, wide hills.
Top of Hackberry Mesa. Dark volcanic rocks cluster in the foreground. A tall saguaro stands below the far side, the upper half seen pointing to the sky with a center and 5 arms. Below is green shrub and rock rolling along to a distant mountain range. All under a thin, nearly complete cover of clouds.
Water in First Water Creek. Flat rocks with channels and puddling water extend off in the center. Surrounding is straggly green and saguaro cactuses reach up in spots. A line of mountains are just visible over the green, then it is blue sky with lines of cloud.
