I often tell the story of my dear friend and band member Gerrard Tahupere #RIP asking if I wanted to go to a party with him.
It was an icy cold Wellington night so I put on my thick bright red woolen jersey and headed out to meet G at a city bar.
He kinda laughed about my jersey choice saying good luck with that.
We arrived at the party his mate was supposedly throwing. It was the Wellytown Black Power HQ.

#RIP Dave Allen of Gang Of Four & Shriekback. His spine was, and shall ever remain, the bassline.
Dave Allen was one of the bassists who got me into playing. His mix of slapping & hard plucked bass was fascinating to me. It drove the songs with a growling threat I'd never heard before. In Shriekback it took on another tone like some strange beast emerged form a swamp to drag you around on land for a while before taking you down to a subterranean keep. Sad I never got to meet him but immensely glad I got to hear him. #rip #daveallen #gangoffour #shriekback
