The prompt is Xeno-
Peter Gabriel. “Not One of Us” 1980

Stepping away from my usual use of the prompt as literal text and going conceptual on this one, using the concept of xenophobia.

#PeterGabriel had the idea of issuing successive albums under just his name, like issues of a periodical. This made identifying his albums tough, so the album featuring this track is often referred to as “Peter Gabriel 3” (his third solo album) or “Melt” based on the cover graphic of his face seeming to melt.

The stripped-down #punk/ #postpunk aesthetic pointedly eschewed the excesses of #Prog(ressive) or #ArtRock bands, so I’ve puzzled over the likes of Peter Gabriel and #RobertFripp emerging from such bands (#Genesis and #KingCrimson respectively), and producing taut, lean music embracing/embraced by this #NewWave (pun intended). I don't know - could it be about talented people giving up drugs (or drug-soaked colleagues)?

Friday Night Jukebox for songs that are musical collaborations, teams, teamwork, solidarity and all that jazz. Cool!

Robert Fripp & David Sylvian, "Darshan (The Road To Graceland)" (1993)

Seventeen minutes from a collaborative album proposed by Sylvian in reaction to an invitation to join King Crimson: a combination of the tightly arranged and the loosely improvised.

#WeekendViewing was recently-released rock doc “In the Court of the Crimson King: King Crimson at 50”. IMHO It’s good if you’re a fan, but not quite as “utterly enthralling” as the rave reviews led me to expect. Perhaps we *don’t* always need to see how the sausages are made, eh? #KingCrimson #RobertFripp #Music #ProgRock #ProgressiveRock #ITCOTCK vimeo.com/ondemand/kingcrimson

As I've mentioned before, I play a electric-guitar-like instrument that I made with 5 strings tuned CGDAE.

This is similar to Fripp's "new standard tuning" CGDAEG but I've always felt that the top G was just an addon to fill the 6 string slots and made no real sense.

If I were to start making 5 string electric guitars tuned CGDAE, and possibly also mandolin versions an octave above, would anyone buy them?

They wouldn't be cheap. But as far as I'm aware they are otherwise unobtainable.
