Humpbacks

Whale-watching in Skjálfandi¹ bay, north-eastern #Iceland, in November.

Over about 2 hours we saw at least 4 individuals, we could tell this by the patterns on the fluke.
They were relaxed, and were feeding around the boat quite happily. No hunting takes place in this area.
The vessel was one of a fleet of 1970s oak fishing boats which have been lovingly restored. One ship has an electric motor for silent sailing.

Last year, we took a week to drive slowly from Berlin along the "Balkan route" via the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and North Macedonia to my husband's Greek family's house on the Ionian Sea. This picture is from #NoviSad in #Serbia, where, like everywhere else, we met the nicest people and spent a lovely evening. I always think about it now when I hear news about today's remarkable protests there.

On my tour of the Pelican NWR, saw these Beggar Ticks attracting butterflies. Previously treated as native plants, evidence (including DNA) is piling up that they are not. Probably just as well.

They are found in disturbed areas, such as the maintained trail I was walking on.

On to The Crow and Quill bar. It's a trudge up the "slope" in a cold wind.

But it was worth it! I love this place! The music is fantastic! They even played an obscure tune by Professor Longhair. Noticed other #NOLA music as well. Tis the season.

Chose a quiet alcove. They had hot buttered rum! Just what I needed.

Inside of a bar created in an old building. Distressed old leather chairs - from a long history of use, not some kind of special treatment. Old tables, old wall lights and old chandeliers. Also groups of white holiday-type string lights hang vertically on two walls. Still the place is dark inside. Also seen is a stairway to a patio.

Chai Pani: Food and atmosphere superb. Music made you feel like you were eating in the end of a Bollywood movie, and everyone was about to get up and start a synchronized dance.

I needed to do that after several trips through the buffet.

Silver rectangular sectioned tray on table with bowl of salad beyond next to dinner menu from Chai Pani. The tray sections are filled with colorful Indian foods of many textures. Also seen partially are a lit candle and a hot toddy.

We've been planning today for our #Norway trip in a few months. Lots of new ports to see and we'll be making a return to #Bergen for the first time since 2013. The aquarium and the vinyl store that's also a bar are on the list.
