I just received news that my car, the main mode of transportation, has been considered TOTALED. Fortunately I'm near public transit; unfortunately it is notoriously unreliable.

I could use the $$$ for bus passes, a down payment, Lyft for crucial appointments, and therapy bills.

When I'm not getting into car accidents I also blog, stream, post essays, build time sites, and cultivating spaces for my Black and Queer friends. A #webring is also scheduled for release in June, and I've been fighting Error 451 codes.

As a rail against what “search” is becoming, I long more and more for the old ways of the web.

Does anyone know if there are any active webring services around? Searching of course displays me everything except what I want, with the exception of “history of webrings”.

I am so old, that I can safely say that #webring [1] and #blogroll are the true origin of the #fediverse ;) A federated network that brought people together based on shared interests. #ActvityPub brings that approach back and allows us to leave the centralised networks behind. Things are getting better, IMHO :)

I've taken the Comic Rocket banner exchange off my website, because it links to websites that are either gone or have disabled the framing that Comic Rocket used, presumably after forgetting that they chose to use the Comic Rocket banner exchange. So it lead to broken sites more often than not.

I made it for anyone with a #wizards or #magic themed website! It's probably pretty niche, and its just me in it right now, but if anyone has an applicable website, it would be cool to have you!

On the technical side, I built it using a fork of a project from GitHub user TooManyBees that builds the webring via #jekyll making it super easy to deploy via github pages. Here is the repo for it: github.com/dakota-marshall/MageRing

One of the hidden-gem features of @feedle that we never made big fuss about, has been the embedding of search results on one's own blog.

Our users already know how easy it is to grab a feed of relevant results by just searching for it on Feedle. What if you could take that same search and make an improvised #webring that updates as new matches appear. Well, it's just as easy.
