9. POWER by illuminati hotties ()
To immediately change gear, we have a soft (self-termed) #TenderPunk record, a relatively chill but catchy jaunt of an #Indie album
Bandcamp: https://illuminatihotties.bandcamp.com/album/power
10. God Slayer - Vredehammer ()
Vicious riff-tastic #BlackMetal, but not higher in my list I didn’t feel much evolution from the 2020’s Viperous.
Here come my personal albums of the year. A.k.a, the albums I pissed off the rest of my family throughout the year from playing on repeat for multiple weeks each time.
In this thread I’ll post bandcamp links where possible, but at the end will share a Spotify playlist if anything tickles someone's fancy but wants to try before they buy.
Let's go!...
My top 5 albums from 2024:
1. Necrot - Lifeless Birth
2. Spectral Wound - Songs of Blood and Mire
3. AARA - Eiger

#AOTY #AOTY2024 #GroupMetalAOTY2024
1. Soft Kill - Escape Forever
Prolific post-punk revivalists at top of their game. Favourite track: Come Hang from the Rooftops
2. The Cure - Songs of a Lost World
Needs no introduction. Fave: Drone:Nodrone
3. Ride - Interplay
Shoegaze legends, were no 2 until The Cure turned up. Fave: Last Frontier
4. Sleater-Kinney - Little Rope
Raw, feminist riot grrl. Fave: Dress Yourself
5. Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches...
Raw, feminist electronic. Fave: Unseen World
Had my favorite 20 records of the year basically done but then today I have to find a perfect record that I have to put somewhere on the list. HIGH on the list. Something's gettin bumped
Alright folks, let's do this, it is:
#TomsAOTY2024 TIME!
Starting at number 10:
Unto Others - Never, Neverland
Unto Others made my #AOTY2024 list very late and if it wouldn't have been for @SimoRavens19 who unintentionally reminded me of its existance, this one would have slipped my attention.
But it didn't. Like everything #UntoOthers formerly known as Idle Hands do, it is catchy AF.
The album is full of Sisters of Mercy, The Smiths, Paradise Lost and The Cure references, and, believe it or not, has some killer Slayer style riffs on it. Despite all the references, they are original and never copycats.

Early Saturday morning question:
In case you do an #AOTY list, do you rank the albums based on what you think was best, or what you liked most?
Because in my case, that would be two different lists.
Feel free to boost
Edit: tagging some folks who I think are doing an AOTY list @HailsandAles @trendskater @neurothing @buffyleigh @Dad_Wood @lpl @neurothing @brh @MetalheadDana @jake4480
