Just coached an #acting #coaching client on a self-tape #audition, and at one moment in a take honestly thought they were stopping and we were gonna go again, but no: they we just totally naturally doing the scene so well that I wasn't noticing they were very much doing the role as written. So nice seeing them become the character.

Worked with an #acting #coaching client on an #audition scene without access to the whole script. Figuring out what the rest of the story can be (will be for this performance) and seeing how our different versions color it was fun. Good to see them find interesting depths from different assumptions.

Google DocsSTANCE Audition Form Winter 2025Thank you for signing up to audition with STANCE (Seattle Trans and Nonbinary Choral Ensemble). We are very excited to meet you. No prior choral singing experience is required. We will have an intro to music course preceding each rehearsal to help singers learn how to read music and translate it into your voice.
Auditions will be held at Rainier Beach Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, January 8 from 5:00-9:00. Priority slots will be held for BIPOC singers.
Rehearsals will be held at the same church on Wednesday nights from 6:45-9 pm with the Intro to Music course from 6-6:45 starting Jan 22. The church is mobility device accessible and has parking and bus routes nearby.
Our Spring concerts will be held in June for Pride month. Exact dates TBD.
Anyone over age 18 who self identifies as under the Transgender and/or Nonbinary umbrellas is encouraged to audition. We do not police identities or labels in this group. BIPOC community members will be given priority for the limited slots we have open.
We require masks of all singers for rehearsals and performances in order to protect our immunocompromised and high-risk singers. We provide high-quality singers masks to all new singers. We also require updated COVID boosters obtained since Fall 2024.
We ask that singers who wish to perform in the concert not miss more than half of the in-person rehearsals (10 rehearsals).
The purpose of the audition is to hear your voice and determine what section to place you in and what your current musical background is. We’ll ask you to sing a piece of music that you know already and if you do read music, we’ll have a piece available for you to sight read. If you have an audition piece that you can bring on paper, please bring an extra copy with you for the accompanist. Songs from memory are also fine. No prior experience is necessary to join.

Worked with an #acting #coaching client on an #audition scene and explored the different layers of the character's helplessness, overcompensating for that helplessness, entitlement, and need. Finding our way through the awkwardness of not yet having mastery of the role but building toward it. So cool feeling them find pieces of it.
Just worked with an #acting #coaching client on role they're auditioning for soon. Finding who the characters are, how they move and react to the world was fun. Honing in on how they do what they do, including connect to the #characters in the #scenes helps build fun options.
Worked with an #acting #coaching client on material for a callback (that I am very proud of them for getting), and got into the balance of doing what the audition was and still evolving and being ready to take notes and redirects. Nice to see them still finding new discoveries and deepening what they've already done too.
Coached an actor on a self-tape, and watching them find the character, and hone in on the how and what of them, was really cool. The specifics shined brighter and brighter on each take.
