I am finding Google useful for pretty much one thing, and that is providing additional evidence that an account reported to me is likely a scam.
Want to confirm for yourself so you can block confidently or provide more support to your admins when reporting?
Go to the profile and right-click on the image thumbnail. Select "copy image location" (these accounts don't tend to be private, eh?)

#FediTip: There is a really cool way to use Mastodon's filter function that has made my life a lot easier.
You can create a filter with no keywords and only assign it to individual posts. Click the three dots menu underneath a post and click "add filter".
Some use cases:
Filter replies and DMs in your notifications, so you know which ones you read and processed if necessary and which ones still need action.
For a group account I recommend not "hiding completely" but "filtering with a warning", so you can mark posts as processed but others using the account can still see them, if they wish.
Create a list of accounts you want to read all posts of and then filter the posts you read. I use the advanced interface and pin the list as a timeline.
Create a list of trending bots aka. hype bots. You will no longer miss trending posts if you're offline for a while but you also won't have to go thorough already read posts again and again if you filter them out individually.
You can even create a timeline with public posts from a specific instance by using the fedibuzz replay. E.g. if you follow https://relay.fedi.buzz/instance/instapix.org and then put that automated account into a list you'll see all new posts from our new Pixelfed instance instapix.org.
For mods and admins:
Create a timeline for the FediBlock hashtag in the advanced interface and filter the posts you processed. You'll never miss an important lock recommendation again.
Filter posts in your local timeline that you saw and don't need moderation.

Ueberlegen hier einen Schnupperserver aufzusetzen, ist ein addon der aktiviert wird.
Da "fliegen" Nutzer nach x-Tagen automatisch wieder raus.
Wenn dich das interessieren koennte es ein Grund sein den aufzusetzen.
Eigentlich mag ich das mit der Selbstzerstörung von Posts gar nicht (Habe ich auch hier auf dieser Instanz - 3 Monate).

Bei einem diaspora Konto habe ich dem sogar einen Grabstein gesetzt.
Profil aufgerufen, als html abgespeichert und als subdomain wieder hochgeladen.
(ohh da, faellt mir ein, gibt da noch ein Profil das lange mausetot und verschwunden ist, der Server ist weg. Das werde ich gleich noch mal versuchen zu retten. Dezentralitaet ist schon was cooles!)
In Sachen Datenemengen, du kannst einstellen ob Bilder bei dir gespeichert werden oder immer vom Sender neu gezogen werden. Das ist eigentlich das ganze Drama. Reiner Text, in Sachen 1 Giga .. na dann mal viel Spass, das dauert Jahrhunderte. Und auf friendica kann mensch ja Bilder einfach einbinden, muss die also nicht hochladen bzw kann die wo anders hochladen:
Ausserdem bekommst du Gespraeche einfach anders angezeigt. Wenn @mina@mastodon etwas kommentiert oder faved sieht @mina@friendica den Originalbeitrag und den Kommentar bzw den "like". U.a eIne backupkopie auf deinem eigenen Server.
En otras palabras la @mina se levanta un aconversa en el bondi con el cellular y @elMinon se lo termian disfrutande de tarde o el fin de semana en la compu ..

One little thing isn't mentioned on that page: filters. If you want to keep your filters then you have to note them down on the source instance and then manually add them to the new instance. Do this BEFORE you create an account alias on the old instance, because creating the alias stops you from accessing most of your settings.

Il existe peut-être quelques comptes dont vous ne voulez pas manquer les pouets avant qu'ils ne disparaissent en glissant dans un fil de mastodon.
Le meilleur moyen c'est de cliquer sur l'icône de petite cloche 
qui se trouve sur leur profil. Ainsi vous verrez automatiquement leurs messages dans votre colonne de notifications perso dès que ces personnes publieront un nouveau pouet. (bien sûr cliquer une nouvelle fois sur la petite cloche annule cette sorte d'abonnement privilégié).
I had trouble importing instagram content into Pixelfed. Only a few posts were being imported.
But I found the problem and now the solution. Turns out IG downloads some content as .jpg, some other as .webp. No idea why. Only .jpg is imported to Pixelfeld.
Here's the solution, if others encounter the same problem:

Avec le client Pixelfed @impressia sur iOS, on peut se connecter avec ses identifiants masto, et on obtient une belle mosaïque de toutes les images de son fil masto (et on peut interagir comme sur masto). Très cool (merci pour le #feditip, @meljoann) .

Tip: Fedi has a filter lists feature that allows you to hide posts/toots/whatever you call them with either a warning or straight up removing them from your timeline.
Simply go into your settings and look for a tab labeled Filters, Filter Lists, or Muted Words depending on the client, create a new filter list (if mastodon), Paste or type in the words you want to hide, select either by hiding them with a CW or just removing from the timeline, select where you want to hide them, click save and refresh your timeline. All the posts about that Tiktok ban or some other hot new thing to worry about should be gone.
