## Hacktoberfest 2023 with Rocky Linux
This is my first Hacktoberfest, contributing to Rocky Linux. I've learned the codebase and fixed docs.
My goals include exploring more, tackling complex issues, and engaging with the community. Hacktoberfest is a chance to grow as a developer while making an impact.
I encourage joining open-source - it's rewarding to collaborate with passionate contributors.
Happy Hacking!

One of the downsides of taking a week off during October is trying to catch up on reviewing #Hacktoberfest contributions. I've cleared the backlog, though, so if you're still looking to wrap up your four PRs, might I suggest #GUAC: https://guac.sh/blog/2024-09-25-hacktoberfest/
Few more days left to #hacktoberfest! We have 2 #PostgreSQL extensions with open help-wanted issues, some of which have a cash reward attached to them: https://tembo.io/blog/algora-code-bounties
Develop for Nextcloud!
Extend the most popular #selfhosted #opensource productivity platform with new applications, by creating extensions, or integrating new software.
Join our amazing community and reach millions worldwide!
18 days into #Hacktoberfest and I just had to close the first #GUAC PR that was obviously AI-generated because it added documentation for a guacamole recipe management tool.
In partnership with #Algora we published bounties for 2 of our open source #PostgreSQL extensions: lightweight message queue pgmq, and pg_vectorize, which automates the transformation and orchestration of text to embeddings and provides hooks popular LLMs.
We invite all Rust developers and technical writers to pick up some of the items from the list: https://tembo.io/blog/algora-code-bounties #hacktoberfest #bugbounty
Still looking to complete your #Hacktoberfest contributions? Come check out #GUAC! https://guac.sh/blog/2024-09-25-hacktoberfest/
New blog post: I miss Hacktoberfest
Thoughts on the recent iterations of Hacktoberfest and why I miss the ones from a few years ago.
Calling all #OSS contributors! Get hands-on with #WebAssembly. It's Q4 and the perfect time to contribute to
CNCF wasmCloud. Check out our good 1st issues in the repo (tagged #Hacktoberfest) and add wasmCloud to your Hacktoberfest projects!
Once a network is configured you can add features. The Rocky Linux Documentation Team seeks several new networking-based guides, including how to setup sharing on your network. Do you use NFS, Samba, or something else to share files? Want to try your hand at a tutorial? Check out this open issue describing what we are looking for and how to submit it. https://github.com/rocky-linux/documentation/issues/2414 #hacktoberfest #filesharing #networking
One cool thing you can do to help yourself take a more intentional approach to your open source project is to read my book: https://pragprog.com/titles/bcosp/
What better time than #Hacktoberfest to get your copy?
It's @hacktoberfest! This month-long event supports open source community health by encouraging code and non-code contributions to GitHub- and GitLab-hosted public repositories.
This year, participants can choose to contribute to Rocky Linux. Some web design coding, and several non-code, technical writing-type requests. Check it out. https://rockylinux.org/news/2024-10-07-hacktoberfest
Great to see a few #Hacktoberfest participants contributing to #GUAC. If you're looking for a project to contribute to, GUAC can help: https://guac.sh/blog/2024-09-25-hacktoberfest/
If I find a little time and energy I would be happy to contribute to some #hacktoberfest #PHP projects.
Hit me with your repository if I should take a look.
Some open-source projects label issues as 'good first issue' to help first-time contributors find entry points.
Did you know every GitHub repository has a /contribute page?
It lists them and links to the contributing guidelines. A great resource for #Hacktoberfest
Hopefully @github will allow maintainers to configure it to choose the labels that can be used in this page
Looking for a place to make your #Hacktoberfest contributions? #GUAC is looking for help with our documentation and the GUAC Visualizer (written in #NextJS).
It's @hacktoberfest time, and Manyfold is signed up to participate!
If you're a Rails dev into #3DPrinting, come along and get involved at https://github.com/manyfold3d/manyfold; or you can help improve our documentation at https://github.com/manyfold3d/website!
