Ahavah Ariel Sacred Arts<p>I ordered some bling to help the design of the Sarasvati figurine I'm going to make, but it won't be here till about the middle or end of March.</p><p>In the meantime, I'm working on a quilt kit that my friend Linda & I got at a class last summer, lol.</p><p>I have a lot sewn & assembled. It lacks the edging. But I wanted to embellish it. Kits aren't my idea of art. An artisan makes it special, lol. So I have some ideas for that. I love splitting <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/wood?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#wood</a> by hand and working out the shapes and branches. With the right technique and some suitable splitting wedges, it's not so strenuous.<br>

Sawn wood is forced into a shape and the naturally grown wood fibers are destroyed. If it is not necessary, e.g. for a fence, then I prefer splitting.<br>
Generally speaking splitted wood is more solid and last longer compared to wood cut with a saw, because water can drain off better and therefore does not get soaked into the wood as much.<br>

Frej LonnforsA distaff I've made for an upcoming exhibition. The pattern is built up of circles and sections of circles and I more or less started at the bottom filling the space and figured out the next segment as I went. Very nice to work with a pair of compasses and just trust it completely. The circle is law and you just need to adapt and find ways to make it fit in the given area.<br>
